Can be put into a collection folder [or sub-folder] directly under My Library. [i.e. NOT in the Runtime]
Could be My Library > Shaders ....
I'm not asking this right. When you name the shader there is no path in the field when you name it. So where does Studio put it? I did a search on the shaders name afterwards and it wasn't found!
Did you save it as a preset? It saves in the presets folder.
Daz studio Formats>My Library>Presets>Shaders
It must not have saved it - thanks anyway!!!
Are you using the Content Library tab and clicking the "+" at the bottom to save the preset? If you are, the file will be saved into whichever folder is open in the Content Library tab.
FWIW, I've always preferred this method over using the File>Save As menu — you never need to worry about navigating manually to the correct folder in your content location, what you see in the tab is where it goes.
No I didn't - there was a place to give it a name inside of the build area. Probably the wrong term but hopefully you'll understand.
"Build area"... do you mean the Shader Mixer tab? That has a Shader Name option in the Edit menu. Is that what you're doing?
If so, then all you're doing is applying the name to the shader you're building, which D|S holds in your current scene. Just that — it isn't saved anywhere as a shader file until you tell D|S to save it. Either use File>Save Shader in the Shader Mixer tab itself, or click on the green Apply button at the bottom to put the shader onto a material in your scene, then save it into your Content Library tab as normal.
Thank you! That is what I did and now I think I know what to do next time. Since this is what I did wrong is there a way to use the existing shader and save it correctly?
