"Give her folk uphill!"....what does that mean?

In Rayn's Description: "With all the sass of a soon-to-be teenager, Rayn is bound to give her folk uphill!"

What does that mean?

At least one online thesaurus lists "uphill" as a synonym for trouble in South African english and the vendor is from South Africa, so I would concur with Fisty that "give her folk uphill" is probably similar to "give her parents trouble".

http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english-thesaurus/uphill#uphill_1 (example given "This job has been a real uphill")
