simulating major waterfall/wave/splash sprays

For those who own some of the 3D water spray/splash type products and have an interest (or way too much free time), I'd be interested in seeing how well they can be used to create large wave splashes, waterfall sprays, and so on in DAZ Studio.  Here are some randomly googled reference photos.

I've looked at several products, but they seem to be geared towards smaller or differently shaped sprays and streams, but I could be mistaken.  Perhaps people have been able to use multiple instances of them in combination to build something much larger and more complex?

any others I'm overlooking?

and of course there are various 2D products too, but I'm interesting in learning about the 3D ones at the moment.

  • There are some for Vue. You maybe able to use some of those concepts and bring them into DAZ.

I am intrigued, why are we not allowed to name sites, when did that rule come in. It's certainly not one that I am aware of.

I misunderstood a forum rule.  Post has been edited to show the site the name now.

Good looking waterfalls, waves etc are very difficult to simulate with geometry alone, and a lot of what you see on 3D images are added via post work using brushes like the ones Ron has in this store. Either that or they are a combination of geometry and post work.

  • There is a waterfalll tool. It used to be sold here but is at Hivewire 3d. It is long in tooth, but I used it occasionally. There are also some brushes with waterfalls in them.

saw a few thinking that in other posts too one about vendors who make something but not sell it but elsewhere weren't allowed to promote it here maybe getting it confused with that and then there were some that would post about asking for products here but when stuff was suggested they the askee kept pushing stuff being sold elsewhere and was unrelated sometimes to what they were asking think they got into trouble for that

You could use particle emitters in Carrara (and some other programs I expect), along with metaballs to get pretty reasonable moving water. It runs as a physics simulation, and you could freeze it and export it when you get something you like, although I expect it would be very high poly. That's how I did this ship in a bottle.

  • SickleYield posted a tutorial on making water geometry with Blender interacting with objects imported from Daz  that might be helpful if you have a specific piece of landscape you want to use to get the basic water geomtry.  It wouldn't generate the foam/mist though, you'd need to look at some shaders and/or post.

I had some great success with Nerds 3d wave and splash tool its takes a little work to get it to work right in Daz 4.8 but they do still work.
I use them mostly in animation where i need a water fall effect.. Sadly Nerds left daz for content prandise and so I have no link for you to buy his products .. But you can view a couple of my animations  I have used those tools in to give you some idea how they worked. these are justa  few of my animations that have splashes, waves  & water falls.

I used a Wave tool  in these animations

The American Ninja - Beach Justice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMkUaISPLcg

These are water falls and slashes in these animations

Spy vs Spy. (Daz Studio animation)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wDOcbBCtHg

My newist animation Karate girl I used the splash tool in to created the splash of when she fell off the dock

I will certainly do a rigged waterfall product in the future - sometime next year, when I've been able to afford RealFlow. ;)  Meantime, the small geometries have to be made manually because Blender can't simulate fine droplets or spray.

Big water is one of the hardest things to do in 3D in general, not just in our market.  I drooled the first time I saw Frozen and saw Disney putting a working waterfall in as a background object that was only on screen for five seconds!

wow that be great!  I would be one of your first customers, please keep in mind of making ita little animation friendly  I love the rigged water set you have i got. But its a little hard to work with in animation but still very useful tool  :)
