A couple of prospective vendors have shared their frustrations in getting their products approved.  In one case brought up in the forums, the artist created a landscape scene using the replicator functions of carrara, but reported that the store approval folks wanted the set to be useful seamlessly in Daz, which has a different system to achieve a similar result.  We never have the whole story, but if true, then it is another case in which  - vendors may create products that work seamlessly in Studio but to work in Carrara need some adjjusting, but - a vendor who makes a product that works seamlessly in Carrara but needs adjusting for Studio will be turned down.  Then we hear that Carrara people don't buy enough Carrara-dedicated  content, which is then used to justify disparate treatment.

Sort of a chicken and egg thing.

I am hoping that as the trend in Vendors not including Poser textures spreads, some other artists will respond by selling adaptive products that provide Poser and Carrara shaders and other settings so that products can more easily work in Poser and Carrara.  We'll see.

His stuff is magnificent. But I'm a Studio-only user so I just sigh when I see his stuff come out.

I *think* I've seen stuff with his name on it over on E-on's store (VUE). But now that they've been aquired by someone else I don't know what's to be expected there.

Howie back in the sale !!! http://www.daz3d.com/howiefarkes

  • While I'm happy to see Howie back in the sale, I was kinda hopin' to see some of the other Carrara PAs make an appearance: PhilW has a nice sized catalog of stuff.  Has his stuff gone on sale yet? Did I see Dartanbeck put in an appearance? I thought I had seen his easy environment kits on sale, but other than that it's been pretty sparse.  Give us a Carrara day! (And make it coincide with when I get paid again, this Friday, if you can manage that!)

In theory the PA sale is over on Wednesday, but last year it extended into 2 weeks of October, so we will see.

Yes, you're correct of course. Mine was just a little bit of wishful thinking.  But based on years past, I'd be surprised if they didn't extend the sale through this coming weekend at the very least; They'll usually do some kind of 'catch-up sale' at the end, and I'm hoping then we'll see more Carrara content.  I've got my eye on a number of items that almost never go on sale otherwise!
