Installing DS4.8 64 bit alongside other DS versions ?

I'm about to install DS4.8 64bit. But before doing so I just want to reconfirm that there are no problems with the old four side-by-side versions setup (i.e. 32bit and 64bit versions of both DS3 and DS4 happily run alongside each other). Current setup:

  • DS3.1 (32bit)
  • DS3.1 (64bit)
  • DS4.5 (32bit)
  • DS4.6 (64bit)

(I plan to replace DS4.6 64bit with DS4.8 64bit obviously)

If you are replacing 4.6 64 bit with 4.8, then it should work.

You can run both the 32 and 64 bit version of each 'major' release side by side.

Thanks - always good to have somebody else confirm things !

Edit: Installed now. (manually uninstalled CMS straight after - no option NOT to install CMS?). Now to see if my nVidia card is any use (back to the other thread)

Interesting - I didn't think it was possible to have two 64-bit versions of DS4 side-by-side, except in the case of one beta version plus one production version ?

Edit: extract from http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/57264/daz-studio-4-x-pro-beta-hotfix-version-4-8-0-56 (there's been a similar note in earlier beta announcements since way back, but not exactly sure how far back - 4.7, 4.6, 4.5, 4.0 ?) ...

Yes! You can have both the General Release and a Public Build (as well as a Private Build, for those involved in that endeavor), of the same major version, installed at the same time. Please be aware that the settings for each of the builds are stored independent of each other. This includes mapped content directories, layout, style and style colors, among many others....

It's possible IF you do some convoluted installation and are willing to risk some really nasty problems...like a broken interface.
