have you considered making an add-on for the Destroyed Mall that would make it shiny and new?

  • I'm afraid not. It would mean reworking the whole set from scratch, a mammoth task. Sorry Timbales

Maybe make the shiny set first next time, then destroy it. ;-)

    Excellent work, by the way.

And you destroy so well. Bought it!

There's already a mall, people can use that one for the "new" then this one for the destroyed.

  • I never actually thought of doing a before and after. I'll keep it in mind for my next destroyed set

I love these making of videos.

  • Thanks Ati2. I love seeing how a product developes and changes over time.

Out of your three videos, I love the Cruiser best. To me that really shows a lot of behind-the-scene details. (I wasn't around when that was released, so I only had the chance to watch it now.)

    Greetings,

DUDE[ETTE]!  That was kind of awesome...

Just as a fascinating point, I am one of around 4,000 people who pay a particular artist (Sakimi Chan) a varying amount of money each month, via Patreon, mostly just to download 'Making Of' videos, where she creates a digital painting (usually of some anime characters) in Photoshop.  The core videos have no voice over, just a looping long copyright-free music track, and her using the application to build it.  Over time she's added more benefits, but I believe she started by just selling the images and the voiceless videos of how she made them.

I'd kind-a love to see something like that for 3D.  Lowest level patrons get a few full-rez cool images, next level up gets the 3D scenes for those, created in .DUF format, the next level gets 'video process' screen captures, etc...  It's harder because not everybody has the same 3D tool; photoshop's sucked the air out of most rooms for 2D paint programs.  It's also harder because she's selling cute and sexy artwork, which is always easier to sell.  Still, I feel like someone who's already a professional at this sort of thing could pull it off.

Anyway, that video is very, very cool, and triggered that idea in my mind...

i like the ruined sets i dunno i just think they can provide a bit more charecter in scenes.. looks like a nice set ill have to get soon!

  • Oh love it. One of the three things I bought during the rev up sale. Your stuff is always quality. :-)

This looks like an amazing set!

I definitely prefer broken and used things.

I guess because we seem to live in a broken and used world.  :)

    Really well done.

It will be mine one day.

I noticed it is all one piece in DAZ studio.

fortunately I do not use DAZ studio and my softwares of choice, Carrara and iClone can in fact import it as all separate meshes from an obj export but was just wondering why or if it was maybe to hard to make the debris at least separate props to the buildings in studio too

i know one could turn opacity on selected surfaces down  to clear bits of debris, I am actually gonna run a physics sim on it when I get time.

    Hi JaguarElla

It would take an age to set the set up as seperate pieces and make for a very long list of objects in the scene window. I am planning a Modular Destruction set made up of various pieces of rubble and debris. I don't really know much about Carrara or iClone but you could use Physics on some of these maybe.

Thanks Ippotamus. The world does seem increasingly more troubled these days.

Thanks Serene. You are one of my best customers I think;-) Love your work!

I agree, I like making everyday scenes a bit more dramatic

the fact they don't look alike would make that difficult for people who care about things like consistency

  • I'm casting my vote for liking stuff that is destroyed/decayed. I wouldn't use a normal mall, but an overgrown mall where alien terrors lurk? Heck yes~!

  • That's so cool! What package are you animating in? I rendered the last shot of the making of video using IRay. It's 250 frames and took 36 hours to render.

  • Possibly your best set yet! Well done! I didn't have to think about this one -- instant in the cart.

I was looking for the destroyed mall but forgot that it was already in my product list which means it won't show.

    Edit forgot to say thanks.

  • I used Octane render for Carrara and iClone 6 for the animations

the first image was 3Delight and took an hour and 18 mins stuff that crying others were Iray and PoserPro12 with various lights

i mainly was tiring out different engines, am still unhappy with my octane shader for the smashed glass, since did a bullet physics sim in Carrara and rendered it to a folder with a dot in the name so it never rendered to file, first time I have had that happen!

  • It looks great.  Most of my stuff is fantasy or WW2 so I have no clue what I'd DO with it, but I'm tempted to get it anyways.
