My day is going crappy. My video driver keeps crashing whenever I try rendering trans maps. I'm gonna try rolling back my driver that I know was stable and see if it still does it.

i don't understand the concept of the hostile take over?  if a company doesn't wanna sell, how can someone make them?

other complaints - type mismatch woes

trying to increment BOH15-060 to BOH15-061.

    -this gives type mismatch error:
    Dim mymax As String
    mymax = DMax("[AUTH]", "OrderAuth") + 1
    MsgBox mymax

I've tried parsing up to the - with mid string and mid and len, but if there is like 'BOH15-D060'
    - it gives the mismatch error again.
database is going to be run by co-workers with the access2010 32-runtime version.  Trying to be careful of error catching.

dragging down a column in Excel can imcrement by 1, can't imagine Access can't do similar

String parsing is a bear, I've done so much in my life now it's all easy to me.  Me, I'd scan character by character backwards from the end of the string and stop when I found a non-numeric character, then convert the rest of the string into a number.  Painful but pretty reliable.

Had Chinese Buffet for lunch.. spring rolls, egg rolls, chicken in dark sauce, spicy cold noodles, sesame chicken, fried shrimp, and pot stickers.

    OMG, so stuffed! surprise

This is my last weekend to go out and have fun before I go into low-burn-rate mode and cut out all unnecessary expenses, so I need to decide where to spend my party money.  State Fair, full of screaming kids?  No went last year, wasn't that much fun.  Strippers and beer? Good times, but nothing to show for it.  Bar hop? It's raining off and on, so ugh.  Call a cab home, have him make a liquor store stop, go home and party with my online friends?  Very tempting, but.. boobs and beer... mmmmm... indecision devil

non-meh - mash taters and pumpkin pie at home. a few render contests to work on projects

is there a keyboard shortcut to type in a smiley face without having to open the dialog?

    ...

If a company has issued stock and no one person or group of people owns more than 50% of the stock and don't wish to sell, then another person or group of people can try to purchase more and more stock until they have more than enough stock to out-vote the non-selling stock holders.   Some of the non-selling stock holders can be tempted to sell their stock for a quick profit.  If a company isn't doing well, it may be difficult for a stock owner to sell their stock (nobody wants to buy a bad investment).  Then all of a sudden another company or group of people decide that they can use the resources of the target company and have figured out a way to turn it around and make a profit from it.  This other company comes along and offers somewhat less than market value for the stock but they're going to buy a lot of it all at once, and current stockholders may grab at the opportunity to make a guaranteed bundle of cash.  Perhaps not as much as they wished had they waited to sell at market value (if anybody had wanted to buy), but it's an opportunity to cash out and make at least some profit before the stock falls even more.

So the trick to a "hostile takeover" is to tempt the traitors!

I may have some of the concept wrong, but basically it's not much different than a handful of resourceful pirates storming a foundering treasure ship and promising some of the treasure ship crew a piece of the booty if they'll help the pirates aboard to get it off the rocks. surprise

Yes you're trying to increment a String by 1 which doesn't compute you need to parse the string to an integer first :)

I think this forum is using HTML, not BBCode, so probably not.  i think those smilies are just images with no code associated with them.

...Friday night, life returning to normal, made my cajun fish and roasted potatoes for dinner.  Been sleeping very well for some reason. Up at 08:00 - 08:30 and feel rested.for a change. Getting back intp my sorely neglected projects again.  Actually managed to submit my first RRRR Challenge entry in months, a very silly scene.

Liking Iray more and more as I have been working it..

Really want one of those new Nvidia Pascal GPUs when they come out next year. 16 - 32 GB of HDR2 memory and 5,000 - 6,000 cores. Makes the Titan-X with 12 Gb GDDR5 and 3,072 core seem "old hat" all of a sudden.  Also hope they release sever boards with NV-Link as well. NV-Link provides a hugenormously fat pipeline (compared to PCI 3.0) between both the GPU and CPU as well as between multiple GPUs. With four of those beasties (20,000 - 24,000 cores), and extremely fast data transmission offered by NV-Link, I will be able to build my scenes completely in Iray mode..

The day of the desktop supercomputer is nigh.

    C'mon Megabucks Lotto.
