SSS - turn off in general

Is it possible to turn off the SSS in general for all textures?

Yes...use a different base shader.  Many skins load with the AoA or UberSurface shaders, these days...both have SSS on.  You can either go in and shut it off or load the DS Default on to the item in question.  You will need to make a default preset (load a simple primitive and then File > Save As > Shader Preset with the surface selected in the Surface tab).  Then to load it on an item ctrl-click on it and choose Ignore (that will leave all the texture images in place).
