Hello, I am downloading all my products from my "ready to download" list at the DIM to an external HD while have all the stuff already installed under the old path "studio 3" (installer times). The downloaded products are apearing in the "ready to install" list, is it possible to clear the "ready to install" list because I do not want to install the products right now (as written before, they are installed under the old path) but if I buy new things and want to download and install them, I do not want to search the "ready to install" list for them. understandable?

I just want new bought products appearing in the "ready to install" list.

Don't download those products from the Downloads tab and just hide them. Once the show up in the Ready To Install tab just uninstall them and they go back to the Downloads tab. Then hide them

Why not? I wanted just to save them on an external HD without installing them, they are zip files, right? so why can`t I save them on an external HD without installing them or delete the "ready to install" list?

if I want to install them later I can move them from the external HD to the DIM-downloads in "off line mode" and install them via the DIM, have done this before with a file I have uninstalled.

Is there something I should know? Something bad that could happen?

    Yeah...the world will end.

Seriously, other than messing up updating the products, there's not much that can go wrong.

You can set the DIM to install to a path of your chossing...it doesn't have to install to the preset one.

Hmm, well I just download those products right now to an external HD and do not want to install them right now because they are installed (from former installer times of daz studio 3) and I do not want to have all double on different pathes, I am talking of lots of GB`s so. I just want to save them.

Or can it be that if I move them back from the external HD to the DIM-download list and want to install them, that the install path maybe would be wrong or unknown? I do not know.

    Example:

V4 Product at the DIM ---> download ---> external HD without installing --- later --- V4 Product at the external HD ---> moved ---> to DIM "download list" off line mode ---> installing it

is something like this not possible while clearing the "ready to install" list in the meanwhile so only new bought products shown up in it after downloading. I am talking about my old content from "daz studio 3" times I am just saving.

What a system is that, I thought I can download the files to an external HD for data saving without installing but no...they appear in the "ready to install" list remove the external HD they are still there, okay, but what will happen if I buy a new product to my internal HD and mark the "install after download" button, I guess I will get an error because all the other things at the "ready to install" list are still listed but the external HD is removed. Really great.

Why is that not written somewhere that we should not use the DIM for downloading the file on an external HD without installing, just for data saving????

Now I can remove hundreds of products each by each back from the "ready to install" list back to the "ready to download list" really great DAZ thanks that will take hours.

I would assume based on the nature of what DIM does that it wouldn't be able to do it like that. Then again, I never use DIM, prefer to do it manually so I know where everything is..

  • If you really want to save installers as a back-up, you should download manually from the product library. Then you can save the zip anywhere you want.

I don't use DIM because of it's limitations.

Ah - not sure just what your problem is. I always download to an external, on my laptop, to take home and install on my render system. DIM tracks data in two manners - the download folder and the installation folder. If you don't install the download folder lets DIM know what you have locally and can be used to match against the store to find both new purchases and product updates.

If you want an archival copy - copy the download folder.
