I Cant find tutorials for it Episode1 lighting a hologram

I'm trying to light a hologrophic character to look like they are being projected from an emiter underneath them. I started off by placing a light underneath them and pointing it up, it lit nothing but her ankle... ok... that was unexpected... lets try making the light more powerful... no change?... what?

I need a tutorial for how to de this because aparently it's a lot more complicated that I thought.

If it is in DAZ Studio/3Delight I would like to point out some shaders:

If this is not helpful, a screenshot would be nice. And maybe a reference picture, what you are trying to achive?

Please, keep in mind those shaders are designed for 3Delight. Make sure you have 3Delight as you Render Engine. I really don´t know what the result of those shaders will be with Iray.

If it is the Wirefram and Hologram Shaders, there is the official discussion: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/805113

Did you try one of the light presets included in the product? Note, that the product description refers to the Advanced Ambient Lights for some of the presets. If you dont own those lights, only half of the light presets will work with the DAZ Studio Default lights.

    For a 3Delight version:

You'll probably have to give the basic figure some key and fill lighting which you've switched to make sure no shadows are cast. Otherwise, just massively turn up the intensity of whatever lights there are. :)

There are also 'ambient' settings in the surface tab. I don't have any experience with emssing around with that one, but am told it controls light emmitting outwards.

If it is the light rays of the projector you are missing, maybe this tutorial about Ubervolume is helpful too:

Wait would 3Delight also explain why my UV shader isnt working right? How do I turn it on?

In Render Settings, go to the Editor tab, there you can switch the Engine from Nvidia Iray to 3Delight.
