Michael 4 UV Mapping for Genesis 2

I have this product. I opened the manuel and I am trying to follow it. I add Michael 6 and his gens and the seam cover. Then it says to apply a Micheal 4 texture. In the manual, he uses the default M4 all natural texture, so that is what I am trying to use. But when I double click on the texture icon, nothing happens. Or am I misunderstanding? (I think that if you try to apply a material pose for an item and it is not the right item then nothing happens.) After you apply the texture, you are suppose to change the uvmap to Michael 4 and the map is suppose to look right. But I'm not even getting it to apply. I tried clicking in the diffuse channel and loading the texture manually, and it appears like the right map, but the arms and legs and head have some swirling going on...like it's not the right mapping for the texture or something. So what am I doing wrong?

Michael 6 is genesis 2, right?

I also tried the Genesis 2 base male, but the same thing happens.

And if you just load Michael 6, where do you find the default texture. On the Surface tab, if I look at the diffuse channel, there is no map loaded and yet he has a texture on him because I can see it.

Thanks.

The reason it is not applying is because the .pz2 file you are using to appy the texture doesn't know where to put the textures on G2M.  You need to either convert the .pz2 to .duf (DraagonStorm has a wonderful utility for that http://www.daz3d.com/m4-skins-batch-converter-to-genesis-2-male-s or you can apply the .pz2 to Michael 4 Gens and then save it as a .duf, or copy and paste the mats from M4Gens to G2M Gens.

  • It sounds like you only changed one material slot to use the Michael 4 UV.  Make sure to change the UV set for all the material slots.  Go under Surfaces tab and then click on the Gensis 2 Male tab and then find your UV Set tab and change it to Michael 4.

    Hi Slosh.

Thanks. Is that also true of the body/head texture because when I apply them nothing happens either. I haven't even gotten to the gens texture yet.

I think I have the utility you spoke of. The only time I tried to use it so far, it didn't work as the file type wasn't a type it understood. That one was a texture by Mec4d. (I'm not sure I have her "name" right.) I can't remember what file type it was, but it was one I never heard of before.

I ran the script, but it changed something in my default setup. Now there is this rectangular window in the workspace that says 10;13 in the upper left corner. How do I get rid of that, so I can have the default setting back. It's like a camera setting or something. I don't know what was changed, so I don't know how to fix it.

OK. It changed the aspect ratio. But how do I change it back, so I don't have that box. What settings were originally in there. I didn't have that white box before. I looked for a reset to defaults button, but I can't find one.

OK. I figured it out. I found a setting and I changed it to active viewport. And then I tried the texture that I converted and it applies OK, so now I can continue with the instructions. Thanks.
