I picked this up ages ago and never got around to using it, till now.
How do I change the colour of the beard to blond or grey or brown etc? Is it changing the diffuse only? There don't seem to be any mats to change the colours.

Yep it's diffuse only ,but it still looks GREAT!!
Daz never made additional materials for the set I modeled for them , if you have my new Unshaven 2 (that include shaders for both Iray and 3Delight you can use the mats as they are shaders so will working on the older set as well.
I've found it pretty easy to tinker with in Iray. If you do use it with Iray, be sure to subd (1 is sufficient for anything I've tried)
I use Unshaven for Genesis a _lot_.
OOooo I learned something new ,I'll have to put the new Unshaven 2 in my wishlist .....
I wish the colour picker in DS had an eyedrop tool...so you could say, select the eyebrows on a figure and get that colour. :sigh:
I'll have to have a look at Mec4d's new one for Genesis 2 - the genesis one autofits pretty damn good to Genesis 2, but I'd want the colour mats and the iray mats.
The only thing that worries me about getting the unshaven for Gen2 Males is Genesis 3 Male is pretty iminent - autofit may work well, but i'd hate to have to buy another version for Gen3 again so soon. It's a pretty damn fine product tho. LOL
oh what the heck. LOL. I just nabbed Unshaven 2 for Genesis 2 males. Couldn't help myself. :)
Well, for what it's worth, I've used Unshaven for Genesis on G2M... and G2F. I can't imagine it'll be terribly harder to use either with G3.
True. :) I've autofitted Genesis Unshaven to Gen2 - just tried it a few minutes ago actually - and it works fine. :) So yeah, would work just as well on G3 :)
I bought unshaven 2 for the fun of it... I have to say that I use these shaders more than any other product. The versatility alone makes it worth a whole lot more than I paid for it. I use it on most of the transmapped hair I have and it looks fantastic. Obviously it was intended for the beard product but it offers many other uses. A great set of well-organized pre-sets. Top notch product and well thought out. After buying this, I have a new favorite vendor here at Daz and look forward to any new release she may offer. I hope she does some cloth sets soon.
It does now. You have to click on the color well and bring up the color wheel, but there is an eyedropper at the bottom under the shade slider. It selects by a single pixel, so you need to be careful of what you're selecting, but it does have magnification, which helps.
Also; Unshaven 2 woorks fine with Genesis 1 if you've got the G2M clone available.
Much appreciate the finer hair controls, but the beard styles aren't a complete match. There's a lot of overlap, but there are some things that are only in one package or the other.
I remind people who may have not realized or forgotten that you can set the mesh SubD for the beard in Iray, with corresponding results. I've rarely needed more than SubD 1, but the step from 0 to 1 is quite noticeable.
JOdel, you may have to show me a screenshot if you are able - I don't quite get what you mean by "bring up the colour wheel"? I clicked in the diffuse area in surfaces to bring up the colour picker, but couldn't see what you are meaning.
I'd also be interested in knowing where to find this eyedropper tool. On my Windows 7 system with D|S 4.8, I get the basic Windows color dialog box. There is no eyedropper. This dialog is modal, so I'm not even sure it allows selection of something outside it. I wonder if this is a feature of the Mac version of D|S?
I already tested both Unshaven and Unshaven 2 on G3F, just to see if it would work with the expressions, and it does, so no worries. If it works on G3F, I can't imagine it not working on G3M.
