Could someone suggest the easiest way to start using Iray?  I never used Reality.  What do I need?  A lighting product?  A texture product?

Thanks!

What happens to NON-iray textures in the scene when you render with Iray?

I would start with just the default sky light personally. Try rendering something outside with that. That will give you a chance to use amble lighting before you try going indoors which will require setting up the scene.

Non-iray materials actually seem to render..but it's best to convert them to iray materials to get the best control. You can go to shader presets, Iray Uber defaults and apply the Uber Base material. Use control click so to keep the textures, but convert materials to ones that have Iray settings.

  • I was just watching some videos by Sickleyeild that I found very helpful at getting started with Iray
