Why Genesis 9 JCMs are so unrealistic ?

  • Adding the Victoria 9 shape does move in that direction, and i would think it worth a bug report, but the only way I can make it look about as bad as yours is by zeroing the figure before applying the pose and shape.

    @Richard Haseltine

Could you try loading a base G9 and just bend the thigh to -80 or so? For my this resulted in this strange fold.

Are you loading base figure or dev load base figure?

dev load has joint control off.

Base. And I even checked that the Joint Control was at 100%

On Nov 16, 2022, I submitted a Service Ticket regarding G9F's shin, thigh, and elbow bending deficiencies (there are probably others, but those were obvious and a good place to start).  So far, no word on my Ticket.  I will not use G9F unless it is equal or superior to G8F in basic joint bending - I do not want a model that is only good for portraits.  Maybe it is better if DAZ leaves G9F the way it is, that way I will not have to spend any $$$ on it.

These are the bend shots that I submitted with my Ticket.  In each shot, G8 is on the left and G9 is on the right.

Yep, I agree with you. I could understand they wouldn't create JCMs for Genesis 9 base, but for official sold characters such as Victoria 9...

Btw I uploaded my screenshots on my server and put a link to them in my first post :)

I think I'll have to create my own JCMs for G9 :(

I hope you can solve this problem, Kervala.  And not charge an arm and leg for the solution!!

I can not find too many problems, tbf. The elbows are virtually the same on my custom G8 character , on a conversion of said character to G9 and on Victoria9.

Also the knees aren't too far off and perfectly usable as far as I am concerned.

The thighs however are fairly similar on G8 and the conversion while noticeably different on Victoria 9. I double checked this with Minerva 9 and got the same result.

     Laurita,

You are using V9, rather than G9F and your bends look good.  Does V9 have some JCM fixes?

G9 has no JCMs anymore, it has a new name for that, if thats the question. It has some CBSs, I did test the -80 tigh bend, it looks wrong indeed. and the CTRL changes nothing for me. to be fair. maybe I am doing something wrong or the CTRL is not working, or I have no clue about that topic : )

Edit: I just find the controllers for the CBS but not the CBS itself.

It has no bearing on anything.....but JCM's  are now called CBS on all G9 characters moving forth ;)

  • And I suppose for the eventual Genesis 10, they'll switch from CBSs to Paramounts, or Desilus... while we go where no Daz has gone before...  laugh

...But my problem is with JCMs included in G9 characters :)

I know, but it looked from the G9/G9 from G8/G8 comparison images as if poses converted from G8 seemed to be slightly worse than the G9 directly applied pose.

    Regards,

    Richard

Is the thigh/pelvis crease noticeable with clothes on?

@kervala Thank you for letting me know. It's refreshing that we can candidly discuss these issues without fear of censorship.
