Gen 9 and Redshift/C4D

Heh everyone

i'm a new Daz user and i'm getting very mixed results sending characters to C4D with Redshift renderer, specifically Genesis 9 characters and materials.

converting materials to Redshift Mats leads me to having to tweak or remove some nodes, reload maps etc.

But worst of all is the appearance of hair. The best i can achieve is a very very thin head of hair with all of the scalp visible.

Has anyone had issues and have you found any workarounds?

I can't help with anything Redshift-related, but are you using dForce hair?

    Hi Gordig

yes I am. Does that lead to issues?

Not necessarily issues so much as complications. Out of curiosity, does the dForce hair transfer over with the bridge? That's never worked for me, and I've always had to export the hair separately as an OBJ.

Anyway, dForce hair transfers as splines, which means that it can be converted to C4D's hair system. Depending on the hair and your settings at export, the hair could bridge over as a full head of hair or a limited number of guide hairs. In the latter case, you'll need to convert it to C4D hair and change the hair growth from "as guides" to whatever you want (I always go with "polygon area"), and probably add the trans map for the particular hair as the density map.

edit: I've been planning to make a tutorial about this, so maybe now I'll finally do it.

Did you find a solution for this? I'm having the same problem with a G8 hair that is not strands but is many thin polygons. I renders okay in Daz, and also in C4D Standard render, but in Redshift it's very thin-looking, like you describe. I can't seem to get it to work with any method.

When I render with Arnold, I add an Arnold Hair on top of the C4D hair material, because without the standard hair material, it doesn't render at all. I only briefly dabbled with Redshift, but I remember needing to do the same.
