I've been trying to find some way to copy the body and face shapes of models ported from video game as morphs for genesis 3
so i can make high quality versions of older characters. i tried blenders shrikwrap modifier but it proved to be more problematic then useful.
dose anyone know of a good way to go about doing this?

Did you try subdividing the low res model first in Blender befor the skrinkwarp?
The best way to do it? By hand, not through an automatic function. You will never get a perfect result simply because different features are in different positions.
another way would be to use facegen or headshop to copy the heads
you can render front and side views to use
This pretty much. Especially if you are trying to make morphs for a Daz figure that are inspired by old characters. Even if some auto function got you part of the way there, you likely would have a ton of cleanup and adjusting to do.
the problem i ran in to was getting the genesis 3 model completely around the target evenly and then the mouth and eye geometry in the genesis model was another issue
but the subdivision level isn't really a factor because shrink-warp just moves the vertices from the outside towards the center and stops them when they make contact with the target surface weather it hits directly on a vertice or the center of a vertex face it will still stop.
ive come up with a good method of merging the old texture details with the high resolution daz textures using gimp
im just stuck on the easiest way to capture the original geometry shapes even just getting close would be good a ton of fine tuning
is better than doing it 100 % by hand,. if i get it close i can at least better see where things need to be moved to.
and snap them in to place with blenders snap function.
