Why does the viewport get smaller and smaller the higher the version of daz studio is? daz studio 3 has a large viewport, daz 4.6 has a smaller one and daz 4.8 is one step smaller, who needs such large side tabs?

That the viewport color is no longer renderd is a totally stupid development daz, so I will unistall daz 4.8 and go back to daz 4.6

There is now a background/environment tab (I forget which it is called). You can set a background color there

My DS4.8 layout is pretty much the same as the one I've had since 4.0 (I've made a few tweaks, but it's pretty much the same), which I configured to be similar to my DS3 layout, with pretty much the same viewport size.

and your viewport is very small, there is so much wasted space for interface graphic

imagine you will build a whide screen scene and have just you small viewport, sure, you can fix the dimension preset but then your scene gets smaller if you choose a whide format. who needs such big side tabs? there is so much wasted space for interface graphic.

in daz studio 3.1.2.xxx ypu had the chance to reduce the size of the side tabs a lot more than in daz studio 4 and up

Yes, I do like having my content library wide enough for 4 or 5 icons (I'm on a widescreen display now, so the viewport is a lot wider with the same layout).  However, my point is that you can customize the layout however you like, and upgrading to 4.8 does not change the layout.

well, I am back to 4.6 64 bit pro. and there my viewport is larger...however...I do not like 4.8, one reason, the stupid development that it is no longer possible to render the backroundcolor and because I do not need 4.8, I do not work with Iray and also not with these3 genesis figures, if genesis or genesis 2 or 3, I do not like these figures. I still work with the old but good v4.2 and m4, so 4.8 is history for me.

And you can do that in 4.8.  Use City limits layout, turn off the aux viewport, and shuffle tabs around.

It'll put toolbars on the side, just drag 'em up to the top, get rid of the timeline tabs it puts on the bottom.. that's pretty much it.

is the environment 360° the thing is I use the backroundcolor as heaven and use AM cloud/sun/moon/star spheres without a skydome or skysphere for most of my outdoor renders

  • if you click the tab of the active pane in a group that group will collapse down to show just the tabs along the edge of the screen - click a tab to expand it back out.
