Why can we not change viewpoint colour anymore?

HeraHera Posts: 1,958

Hello!

After loading and deleting some objects, my viewpoint background is suddenly black. There used to be a setting in one of the viewport dropdowns where you could alter that setting, like resetting it to white - but apparently that possibility has been removed with one of the later upgrades. Why? And is there any work-around to solve that? Because I cannot imagine I'm the only one with this problem.

Where has the command to change the viewport colour gone?

In DAZ Studio 4.7 the command to change the viewport colour has been removed from the viewport option menu. The viewport colour is also no longer rendered - it is used solely for the preview mode. To change the viewport colour go to Window>Style>Customise colours - the Viewport colour is at the bottom of the dialogue. To change all viewports uncheck Use Independent Viewport Colours; to change only the active viewport check Use Independent Viewport Colours.

    It works! Thanks!

But why on earth moving that function somewhere else?? Just doesn't make sense,

  • Presumably with the intent of expanding the options past what could logically be handled in the old dialogue. I was surprised that the Iray environment stuff wasn't integrated into the Environment pane, but there is a note on that in the docs.

When you couple it (the viewport color move) with the expanded capabilities of the Environment pane, for the Iray engine (or even future use for 3DL), it does make sense.
