I think the ad creators made a misleading mistake...

I don't understand your comment. Skyler came out for G3F, so technically could be refered to as Skyler 7, per Daz's nomenclature. Are you wondering if she's an "offiical" 7? Is that a thing?
Only official daz characters until now have been marketed with the generation number in their name. Aka official iconic characters. The non iconic characters get named usually with "for genesis 3 female" ect.
So it is unusual.
As SpyroRue said, Skyler isn't a DAZ Original iconic release, she's purely a PA product by 3DUniverse. So, to advertise her as a Gen 7 Icon is false and could cause some unintended misunderstanding customer-wize.
Not to mention that, if she was (which she isn't), she'd ought to be a 6 and a 7, and I could have misunderstood but had been under the impression the promo included both editions... so even more confusion packed into that headline.
It's more to differentiate her from her Genesis 2 cousin I would imagine. It's easier to say 'Skyler 7' than 'Skyler for Genesis 3 Female'. People see the number and instinctively know which base figure it's intended for. If they just said 'Skyler' it could easily mean either the G3F or G2F versions.
I wasn't confused by this at all. Skylar isn't for V7, Eva7 or Beth7 right? So a lot of third party characters are for thos "icons". Skylar is her own thing and certainly still part of Generation 7. I don't find it a biggie. They have done far worse in their marketing...even if this is inconsistant.
I've said before, the bigger number is more impressive, and noobs benefit from Skylar 7 more than Skylar for Genesis 3 Female. Lots fo people still don't know G3F is Generation 7. I don't see this marketing as harmful.
Until people try to use thier DAZ coupons on her.
I don't look at names for that though, i look for the blue icon. But I could see someone doing that. The icon is the best way to know if it's a DO. There are some PA I like a lot and know it as "their" product only to realize it's a DO!
Yeah, I think that's why DAZ started listing the original PA next to the DO.
