How do I load figures where my camera is pointing?

Hi all,

Probably it's simple, but if I have loaded a scene and created a camera at a nice spot I want to use, how do I then load characters ands props into the scene so they appear in my viewport, rather than appearing at the 0,0,0 point and then having to manually move them all over to the spot I like? I'm sure it's simple, but I can't work it out.

Thanks in advance...

I'm only guessing here, but why don't you plug in the XYZ coordinates of the camera from the Scene>Parameter setting for your figure to get the ballpark location? (Or would that put the character "out into space" lol?) (EDIT- Well, wonky result. I had to Y translate the character down and she was over to our right a smidgeon, but yes, she was in the viewport of the camera.)

Hold down the Alt key while dragging the item to where you want it to load.

    Showoff!

(I knew that too. DUH. I'm thinking too hard.)

Any way to do something similar for lights also?

I noticed when I have a light selected and create a new one, a "Copy selected item: <name of selected light>" option becomes available.  When that option is selected, it creates the light with the same Transform (x/y/z) settings.  It's ideal for adding lights in a closely spaced linear arrangement such as found on the carnival rides.

You can also create a light using the current view, e.g. perspective view.

You can do a similar thing with cameras as well.  There is an option to copy the viewport co-ordinates when you create a new camera.

    Cheers,
