Camile is yummy looking. But Where's da HD?  Just bought, installed, see no HD dials :( Sad panda is sad. But going to tinker with her anyway. She does look nice, but need to understand the reasoning behind the HD label. Other HD characters have HD morph dials.

Does the HD refer to the texture map sizes, perhaps?

Those texture map sizes are from V4 generation. So it can't be that. 4096 is the standard texture size and has been for a long time.

But thanks for the comment, made me realize part of the paste did not come over. So I fixed that in the original post.

It could be perhaps the HD details use a lower sub division and wouldn't really increase render times? I notice on most of Raiya's HD characters they do not have HD dials either, so perhaps the details are more subtle? Just a thought. Though I never notice any increase in render times in octane while rendering, dunno if it's different from iray/3delight

I tested rendering at SubD1,2,3 and no dice.

Even if she did auto-dial in HD, I would like an HD dial to use for other times when she's not dialed in, but for the price I guess its OK.

I'll just have to be more careful in the future.

For a second I thought I saw some better HD details, but it was because I turned on V7 HD once I saw Camile did not have a dial for it earlier.

OK got a real decent render this time. But still would like to know about the HD stuff. Is it typical to advertise a character as HD that has no HD morphs? Or is there something missing in the product? Please halp!

She has no low res version, Fred stopped bothering making a base rez morph and then adding an HD morph on top of it.

DS does a pretty good job of firguring it out if you want to force set a resolution lower than the morph was made for, like forcing it to base or 1 level you'll still get the basic shape of the morph but you'll lose the little details...  so little point in doing the extra work, very few people use the lower rez if an HD version is available, and those few peopel can force it to render lower.

Thanks for the response Fisty, it's unfortunate she doesn't have an HD dial. Sorel has expereienced this with the lower cost HD morphs as well, but I think Camile was the first one I opted to buy.

With the Daz HD morphs Sub-D 1 VS 3 creates largely noticeable improvements in details. Granted the Daz HD morphs are $40 alone and Camile is a shape and good texture for less than that. After significant testing I realize she's not a huge improvement when in HD, but does have a few minor changes in details. I guess one way to view this is she won't negatively clash when using Vickies HD morphs...

Also an HD dial is very handy, because I can dial in those HD details without using the shape associated with them. (and for people saying, the HD details won't match the morph, hush. Users decide what to do the the tools they buy.) Also, this allows me to see the difference between HD very easily. But I figured after Sorel's comment it must have been a budgeting issue, kinda like how some figures don't have separate head/body morphs. (still bummed over taiga from G1 era, lesson learned) But at the same time Camiles HD features aren't noticeable enough to warrant a dial, so I guess it adds up.

If that is the case I will just be more cautious in the future and look out for HD dials in the morphs list.

Again, for the price she's still a solid value. I'll stick to Daz's pricey HD morphs in the future. Hate to be that guy.

I do admit wish there were a way to dial in and out HD. I love these characters but I don't always want HD.. It renders so awesomely slow on my machine. Would love the option to have it or not. I=-)

You have to lower the sub-d or the render sub-d level. If you aren't doing close ups of elbows, knees, butts or boobs lowering the sub-d render resolution should not be a big problem. but I agree I want a dial too.
