Advantages of different UV sets for every character

Hey all,
I noticed that a lot of characters use different UV's (V7 UV, EVA and now Bethany) but why is that? why can't there be a "generic" UV for all characters?
If I remember correctly, Generation 4 characters used the V4 or M4 UV but can't remember about Generation 5. Generation 6 already used this trend.
Many thanks,
Andro

the more extreme the shape differences, the more likely stretching will happen when they use the same UV. So men and women should really have different UVs.
However, most women could use the same UV and have very minimal stretching that most users would never notice. A toon figure may benefit from a new UV set however.
There isn't a huge benefit to how daz pumps out new UV for each figure, but it ensures that the Daz crafted texture sold for that figure will look optimal. They set the high bar in theory. Also it gives each figure another selling point, want that texture, need this UV set. HAH.
You may notice Pa's often opt to use the Generic Base UV for their textures, and this is good for me. I don't see any obvious issues with stretching, and because I never use the base shapes as they are sold my figure's aren't expected to look exactly like the promo's anyway. I like to pick one skin and totally different shapes and mix them up. Never an issue.
Because Camille for Beth7 issues the standard G3 UV, I will buy her. I don't want Beth right now though.
Yeah, I can totally see new UVs for things like Reptilian or whatnot, but for 'woman who is a little thinner and has a longer nose'? Meh.
