Is it me, or does ever character that comes out for V7 look the same?

yeah I notice gen 2 females beginning to have a similar flavor.
So far, haven't bought any extra gen 3 figures. I don't really like hd morphs. They are too time consuming to render, and I do already have a number of Caucasian females to choose from for the previous two generations
Same vendor, similar features... happens a lot.
I was really happy to see Monique and Darius come out for G2. They offered a little variety.

I'm looking for some Asian-looking characters myself. I did manage to get characters that looked almost right from the G3F basic skins, but it's a near thing.
Getting the Japanese skin tone right is harder than it looks...

As for me, I'm waiting for G3F characters in other colors besides white.

I think all humans look alike.
That's why we need The Millennium Cow!!
Get some Bovariety into the mix.
With all due respect to Lennon, McCartney, Winston and James:
I saw the moos today oh boy
About a lucky man who milked the grey
And though the moos was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the rendering.
He drew his maids out on a PC
He didn't notice that the engine had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of DAZ.
You know Summer is a Silver Character, right? I also think it likley that each PA is still coming to grips with the possibilities that Genesis 3 offers. Each PA has their own style and preferences in characters as well. EJ Valeria and Tatijana, while they have similarities are pretty different from V7.
It's kind of humorous that some folks are complaining that Genesis 3 is too soon after Genesis 2 and others are complaining the new content isn't out fast enough.
I think the problem with G3 is the relative lack of morphs and figures.
At least with G2, you can add a lot of character.
With this and uncanny valley topic, I think one problem is simply that a lot of people get swept up in the technology and 'look what I can render.' Actual artistic vision and skill in extracting something really human out of these figures isn't something you can just press a few buttons.
Witness how many figures people are showing off show no expression. Just blankeyed dolls staring out.
I would love some humanoid alien skins for adults. I admit the caucasion explosion gets tedious. Would like some real fantasy skins that don't just look like extra color was added in diffuse, but something with vibrant colors and textures- for alien gals and guys.
For G1/G2, Medolian and a few other skins are fun.
There's also Skin Builder, to get some unusual colors (although this is less dramatic).
Finally, Creature Collection has fur and scales.
This, for example, is a scale pattern from CC that's been tweaked a bit for Iray: http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/Scaly-Dude-535931555
How about Mooji?

I have to agree, all those ladies look like they come from the same norhern European genepool - hey you might almost guess they're all from Helsinki with those long legs, protruding cheekbones, thin, narrow noses and oval eyes.
I'd love to see some blacks some asians or for that matter someone who looked mediterranean, middle eastern, indian, jewish or russian. Come to think of it, has there ever been an Arab or Iranian in the selection?
Expected PA response would be "but we make what people buy".
Catch 22...

There are several vendors whose characters all look the same. Whenever a new character comes out I try to guess who the vendor is and most of the time I am correct. The vendors have certain "trademarks" that they incorporate in their characters that become obvious to people.
Syyd over at Runtime DNA has some head morphs for Gen3 and V7. I bought them, but frankly it seems like he chose "odd " as his design theme. Or " look what you can do with the face".
So far what I've seen of G3F hasn't inspired me. If anything, she looks less lifelike than G2F. I thought the face bones were supposed to provide added realism? Either the PA's aren't capable yet of harnessing that or it doesn't really help much. This upgrade problem often crops up with software I buy. Sometimes the upgrade is really noticeable like with Hitfilm 2 to 3 or barely noticeable at all like with Vegas Pro 12 to 13 (apart from new features hardly anyone uses). In this case so far it looks more like a Vegas rather than a Hitfilm sorry to say. I'd love to be proved wrong because I'm always striving for more realistic renders.
I got the Merchant Resource kit FW put out a few days ago, and I'm going to try and do something with it. Might be a dial-morph, depending on how ambitious I feel, but I should be able to pull off something.
I can't say Victoria 7's mats are really my style. The default texture I see a lot of with the racoon eyemakeup really makes her look terrible like she slept in her eyemakeup or something. I almost regret buying Victoria 7 pro, because so far, I don't use her.
I do use Genesis 2 female a lot. She looks great.
I just hope to see more that is more my style in the future months. But V7's big debut wasn't nearly as strong as I would've hoped.
That's like the difference between a ho-hum actor and a great actor. A great actor plays many widely differing roles covering much of the spectrum of human behavior often unrecognizably for a while. A ho-hum actor couldn't change his acting style if his life depended upon it.
Well, I like many of the new characters. But looking at my forum picture, my "3D self", it also follows a similar look. So yeah I'm biased.

Well, here's a base morph I've been mucking about with for G3F. I'm not sure about the skintone, but it's as close as I can get with the current tools. This isn't the final skin by any stretch, as I'm still working on the resource.
So this image is the basic morph, and a rough on what the skin will look like. Please keep in mind that this is a WIP, and the final look will be somewhat different.
Nicely done darkspartan
The hardest part, I think, will be getting DAZ to take it. I'm still not a hundred percent happy with her look, mostly in the nose and jaw. There are a few places I haven't gone over yet, and I might not do.
I doubt Rumiko will mind if I take a pass on making her butt bigger.
