I thought V7 already WAS HD???
Wasn't that one of the marketing points? How come she now has a HD add on?

And did you look at the promos?
The one with the hands ...
Honestly, my fingers don't get dented in when I am bending my fingers!
Check the V7 morphs folder in the data folder, if you can't find a .DHDM file in amongst her DSF and PNG files then she wasn't HD to start with.
Daz_Spooky did say, in one thread, that she wasn't HD, and he apologised for assuming that she was and misleading people.
Great! :)
Ouch, expensive.
yeah I agree.
Plus 1. I don't own Nineve so there's no real incentive in the deal. Wish they'd offered alternatives.
This rather reminiscent to how G2F was with clothing detail at first. After a while we'll probably start seeing characters with HD already built-in.
The HD add-on for Victoria 7 is pretty nice, very detailed, definitely worth it if you are going to be using her alot for the next 2 years, in my opinion.
I paid $18.60, maybe it is alot compared to the base figure, but the base figure is insanely cheap considering the quality :) you do not have to buy it, but if you enjoy a particular figure and use it alot, it is, in my opinion a great way to upgrade that figure :) and totally worth it.
Unless your putting the camera right in the face or hands ect of V7 its just not worth it, I have all the HD addons for G2F and from a distance cant even notice if its hd or not.
Seems like the same price as other HD add-ons to me. Or did their price increase since they were released?
It seems like DAZ would supply the HD add-on for free to those of us who purchased under the misleading ad.
Honestly V7 already looks HDish to me and really do not see the reason for this Add-on, unless you really want to do a very close up render of her.
Yes, you are correct on that one. Using the HD versions also increases the render time (in my opinion and experience).
Hmm, with the right level of subd there is a pretty big difference, set subd at level 4 and dial HD on V7 and place a non hd V7 next to it. I can see the details meters away. Knees clearly 10 meters away. I have noticed that in a rendered image some lights can wash out geometry details. I haven not had much time to render, but in the viewport set at subd level 4 the difference is definitely noticable. I would personally rather spend money on a HD-add on that I will be using every day for the next couple of years than some generic dress which I already have a million of :)
The error wasn't in the product page for V7, it was just a misstatement by DAZ_Spooky in the forums.
the details are nice and all, but I do find the Daz HD morphs pricey compared to the competition (which i dont know how detailed those are)
its just the HD morphs effectively double the price of the figure...while from what i have seen 3rd party HD figures arent sold as an add-on, they come with the figure. so $18 versus $85 for the entire package.
Jakku go do a normal everyday NON profile(Not a CloseUp) render 1 with HD 1 Without and show me this incredible detail you get, I dont expect you to take up the challenge though as you will see no difference with a straight render. why do you think the HD promos are never textured? because with a texture on them you cant notice that much of a difference unless your doing CloseUps.
I am not saying they are a bad thing but if you have an interest in CloseUps then they are great but as in RL the further you move away the less detail you see. I have bought most for G2F HD-Add-ons as you can see. ;)
It appears the entire skin surface is sculpted with pores and other bits of microgeometry. The G2 HD morphs seem to only have extra detail in feature areas. Lighting a character modeled with high frequency microgeometry will look much different than a character with a flat skin surface, especially concerning specular reflections.
Attached are two promos for HD add-ons. Victoria 6 left, Victoria 7 right
thats for that info, good to know! that does look neato.
Considering how many texture artist still don't know how to make proper bump maps I am thinking of buy it just to see if I bake some from it.
