[Solved] Imported items causing Iray to crash

I am wondering if anyone of you guys encountered the same problem. I found out that an imported obj file made Iray crash, causing DAZ to completly shut down. If I hide the item everything works fine. The weird thing is that this doesn't happen all the times, sometimes it goes through without problems. I made several renders in a row and no problem. One day later, same scene, no changes but just crashes. In this special case I found out it was this window curtain causing the crashes. I tryed to fix the obj, I thought maybe it would work after... and it did... for a few renders, then crash again. I really don't get where the problem is. Any ideas?

There was an issue with Iray (not Studio specific). Where intersecting planes, with an opacity map on the (like grass or bushes), would cause a problem. That was mentioned months ago in a Studio beta thread, and I have no idea, IF, that has been fixed or not.

By "intersecting", I'm assuming that implies that a flat surface goes threw another. I have found that some OBJ files made elsewhere, and never intended by the anther to be used in Studio, that some odd things happen. Polygons end up connected to others off in the blue yander, etc. That alone may be just enough to cause it.

Here is a glaring example, of a truly broken OBJ file. There are triangle shaped surfaces all over this thing that are NOT supposed to be there, lol.

Thanks for this advice. The item I imported is a pretty clean obj, without intersections. Just a simple window curtain. I tryed with different material settings but still problems. I am rendering right now and it works fine, maybe tomorow it will crash again... Sometimes it just reacts at some light settings. With the normal HDR environment light shining through the window everything is fine but when I add some interior lights it does what it wants. I don't get why it's doing that.
