I agree with a lot of this.

All change is not bad. But BAD changes are bad. This forum design is utterly repellent to me, and I will never like it.

I definitely feel like my ability to easily access useful information is being hampered by this very frilly, flowery, dysfuncional design.

Agreed 100%. Where's a "like" button when we need one...?

And a "preview" button...? (edit: that up there should have been all one quote, not cut into sniplets)

And lots of other buttons...?  frown

Thanks everyone (14 pages back) to tell me where the bookmark star was.

How about the ignore feature.  It does not seem to be working (Sorry if I missed a discussison on it already).

Having quoting troubles and messed something up.

Anyway, I went to the page you all are talking about and saw all but one image. But when I hit the backbutton it did not bring me back here....it took me to another page in that thread.

    Stop it. Just stop it.

And Dana, thanks for trying to help, but I'm not going to open a new tab everytime I click on something in one of these threads.

After looking at a few posts, it doesn't look like everybody got their post count reset like the last forum change.

My profile says Zero posts for me.  Maybe you have to post in new forum before it is reset.

This post should see if that is so.

ETA - Looks like my post count came back, so problem solved.

Interesting what happens when you miss coming to the forums for a couple of days...I suppose suprises help to make life interesting though!

That said so far it looks okay and am I correct in thinking that some threads have been ported over to the new forums?

I'm a bit stunned that I'm listed as having 1322 bookmarks but at the same time glad that they have translated across.

Thanks for the first post of this thread it really helped to get my head around the changes...

So what happened to my Avatar?

It was displayed earlier today, now it is gone. After seeing that it was gone, I tried to edit the "Thumbnail" in my account settings, and I got a fatal error:

    Fatal Error in PHP.getimagesize();

getimagesize(/var/www/html/daz3d.com/vanilla/uploads/userpics/558/pFAE3164E1533.jpg): failed to open stream: No such file or directory

The error occurred on or near: /var/www/html/daz3d.com/vanilla/applications/dashboard/controllers/class.profilecontroller.php

(Sorry about the huge text. That is how the error message pasted in from the web page it occurred on.)

You need not apologize for some one ell's decisions regarding font size. Besides, there are now posts all over the place with text far larger then was intended by the original poster when they were typed up months ago.

I'm still looking into finding a 'Site specific' solution for this "oversized font issue", that will not over ride every page everywhere else. Unfortunately, the solutions regarding my view of this forum in my browser, will not be in the slightest way sympathetic to others that have not implemented such drastic measures.

P.S. the thumb may have been a temporary glitch from swapping out servers or something while transferring the forum over.

(EDIT, added screencap of the font overlapping issue)

Anyone know how to remove the actual notifications? The number disappears when you visit the page but the notifications remain and I can't see a way to remove them?

Over in the Car and Bike lovers thread, you can see where an image should be but when you click on it, a page opens stating "page cannot be found" or something like that. Can't view any images posted by users.

I've been trying to figure that out too.  I can view some images, so they're not totally broken, but I cannot view others.  Not sure why it's not all or nothing.

Can you post a link to this thread so I can take a look?

In this thread, I can see all the images, both mine and those of others:  http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/58912/testing

In this thread on page 28, I can see at least one image, but the others are broken: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/53147/show-us-your-bryce-renders-part-9#latest and if I click on one of them it says the page is not found.  And just in case you aren't seeing what I'm seeing, here's an attachment (haha, if that works) showing what I see:

I see loads of broken images on page 28 (although I see images on the last (fencepost52)  and third from last (dragonfall1221) posts.  (Firefox 39.0 on Windows 7)

(Bandwidth related? Are the people who see all the images on high bandwidth, and those who don't on lower bandwidth connections?)

The way the little blue "Quote 'works'... I click on it and the page slowly scrolls upwards a few hundred pixels. So I click again and it does the same. Obviously it should recehtre the page on the reply editor (which now contains the quoted post twice), which is at the very bottom of the page (stupid place to put it when you're replying with a quote!)

I have a depressing sense of deja vu - a lot of the many, many problems that you have here are the same as Renderosity's 'new' forum. And they still haven't fixed most of those.

Link redirecting should now be in place, so stored bookmarks and Google search results should work (at least for thread links).

Most of my old-new forum thread bookmarks work now - most that were of the http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/8598/ format, but not all, e.g. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/5945/

I also have a load of thread bookmarks like this http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=10186 which don't work (I'm guessing they're old-old forum as opposed to old-new forum)

And of course corrected old-old forum links like this http://forumarchive.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=187168 seem to be well and truly gone.

Click on the notifications and at the page with the list at the gear in the upper right corner - it asks if you want to mark all as read - yes - now the notifications number is down to 0

sad Must I answer this, I know it will go against the grain, tho here it is. That is because the software the form is running on is fundamentally flawed, and no amount or combination of config setting can fix that. Not to say, it dose deferent things in deferent browsers, as the HTML it produces is NOT w3c compliant.

Just been looking at some pictures in Art Studio. On the old forum, when I clicked on a small picture I would then get the full size one, now nothing happens. How do I get to see the full size version of pictures people have posted?

I liked how that worked  before, it would pop-up in a different window. now it just opens for me in my current window, and when I page back . . it takes me to the last post, rather then the post I had clicked the image from.

What I have been doing, so I don't have to page back any more, is just right click and open in a new Tab (guess one could open in new window too)

I had something similar happen, but what I didn't noticed, I seemed to had been logged out, it was a weird thing, sometimes I stay logged, sometimes I need to log in

I can't find ANY way to look at people's art they've posted on the new forum. Left click does nothing. Right click gives the usual options of "save picture as/print picture...and so on"

Just clicking normally on the thumnail should bring up the full size image.  It works for me.

Just tried it this morning, and it's working. But I swear (oops, swearing's not allowed!) that yesterday it wasn't. Yet again, a computer has made me look foolish.

Has anyone else noticed that the email notification is breaking the links to the threads!? You click one to go to the DS4.8 thread and you get taken somewhere completely different. Also, I clicked one for my thread and, though the link was right, the page refreshed twice and then it went to the index. There looks to be a lot to iron out round here.

    CHEERS!

They get line breaks - somewhere in the middle, but not always in the same place.

Copy and paste the full link in your adress bar and it works ... sigh.

Yes, that would work, it's having to do so that is a pain.

    CHEERS!

EDIT: LOL, just tried that and got 'page not found'!

If you go up a level to the forum thread list, there is stars on the far right. Clicking them makes them yellow or not.

P.S. I like the new notifications, nice.

My old avatar was an animated gif.  Its gone so I tried to upload it again but it wasn't moving so I switched to this oldie but a goodie.  And I couldn't change my forum user name like it said in the directions.  But what I'm really wondering is where did the uploaded renders go in the Art Studio?  All I see are a lot of blank boxes.  I had a thread there and everything is gone.  ...or maybe I missed an update on my browser or whatever and the prob is on my end.  sad

was looking through some post in Art Studio, and now some of the images  are broken .. I went to my own post there, and less then 24 hours since I last went through all of the post in my thread, almost half are now broken.

I'm sure this will be corrected, just letting it known that  art studio has a lot of broken images now. I hope they get fixed  since some I only look through once a week, and now I'm unable to see what  haven't the past week frown

No bad feelings or such. I understand how difficult it is to sift threw the forum with the chosen font's. There is just so much, and it is difficult on the eyes the way it is all laid out.

they were there less then 20 hours ago,  because I went through them all to make sure everything was still there, and  they were, and some missing  I just looked at 12 hours ago (could be 14 now, I don't keep track of the time all the time)

so were you implying they are just now doing the copying , and  when I first look, was not the new copies, and what I see now is ?

as long as things  get back I'm okay with  some waiting
