Relocating items

Hello!

I have a few props which, when you load them into a scene, locate themselves way out of the "zeroed" scenery, so to use them with the default camera, posing people in and so on, I have to move them.

When looking at these objects, they are posed in zero, but their zero is far away from the actual object.

Now, is there an easy trick for moving them to the "real" zero. To begin using them together with people and props.

The easiest way I find, is to hold down the 'Alt' key on a PC, and drag to where I want the prop to appear. When you hold down the Alt key, drag the prop into the Viewport with the LMB held down, you will see a yellow circle with a red centre. Just release the LMB when it is where you want the prop to appear.

Alt-dragging probably won't help here as that temporarily changes the location of the origin, and the item is loading offset from the origin. The Align pane will be more useful - create a null at the origin, if there isn't something there already, and load the item; select the null followed by the imported item; open the Align pane (Window>Panes(Tabs)>Align) and set the z and z options to centres, then click Apply.

I tend to create a null in every scene then move it to where the action is. When you load something new, if it's not in the right place, go to scene, click on the null, holding down ctrl, click on the newly loaded object, click align, select align to origins for x,y and z then click accept.

The new object will move to the null.
