Anyone have Amazon Prime?

I just released my first book and I used Daz for the illustrations and cover (it uses a mix of comics and story geared toward middle school to high kids). With a combination of Toonycam pro, Visual Shaders and a lot of trial and error I attempted to make them look great for the book format. It just went live today and it's free for anyone with a Prime or Unlimited membership.

I just started with Daz at the end of last year and am still learning a lot. Was looking for any pointers on the images as I want to make the book into a series and can always do better. They are not supposed to be realistic but I'm not wanting to have them look like everything else either.

I know this is a bit of a shameless plug for my book but I'm not saying buy it, just borrow it. Signature contain a link. Thanks

You should add a [commercial] to the subject of your post. :)

You might also give instructions on how one (with Prime) might access your book. (Links to commercial sites shouldn't be posted, but a description of where to look would be okay.)

If he adds Commercial to the title the post will automatically be removed, as only DAZ PAs are allowed to post Commercial threads. And as he is saying this is a freebie with Amazon Prime, then it isn't a Commercial post anyway.

I appreciate it being seen as I had intended and I promise not to make a habit out of it.

Got it. But posting a link would be a no-no, right? I feel like I just read somewhere here that posting a link to a freebie at a commercial site is not allowed, but darned if I remember where I saw it!

I just realized it says you need prime and to own a Kindle device. I didn't realize that before. If you don't own a Kindle that's probably why it doesn't show free. That kind of sucks. Sorry

I believe you can get the Kindle device and use it as an app. That is showing on the page.
Did you use fixed format or flowable?
When I click the look inside, the graphics are large and go off the page. The print is cut off on the first graphic. That may be your formatting?

    Spark is cute :)

He is kind of cute. The graphics should work okay. I just downloaded the whole book to my device this morning to check on it and everything looked good. It was written in a fixed format at a 6x9 book trim size. I used comic life three to give it a comic book aspect then downloaded the entire work as a pdf and uploaded to Kindle kids book creator.

I have Amazon Prime but didn't sign up for the Unlimited dealy---all I'd do is fill my space with hundreds of books I'd never have time to read. :)

So I picked this up for 1.99.

I have a Fire HDX 8.9 device and it fits onscreen perfectly. Love the illustrations and the layouts you use. Delightful story as well though I haven't finished it yet. I don't leave reviews at amazon but I want to congratulate you on a job well done!

Thank you. You just brought a big smile to my face. I appreciate you picking it up and really appreciate the feedback. When you get to the end let me know what you think of the last page. I left it on a cliffhanger which leads directly into the second book. I've finished it and proofing now. I think it's even better than the first with a little more action but not as much humor.

Finished it the other night. I'll say it again, I love your formatting. And the way you do conversations with the little avatar for the characters as if in a chatroom makes the convo very easy to follow. I don't know if anyone else does that--this is the first time I"ve seen it.

The cliffhanger part is fine and it will be nice to see some more action, now that the characters have been introduced.

    Cheers

You can go to amazon and search the kindle section. The title is 'How I met my pet dragon'. laugh

(Just checked out the smilies. Cute, but you gotta hover to see what they mean because they're not all obvious)

Ah a search did it, but my Prime isn't the free books Prime it looks like :(

The Prime Price is currently showing at $1.99, but it's free to read if you subscribe to the Kindle Unlimited program ($9.99 a month for unlimited downloads of 800,000 books and several thousand audiobooks.)  I looked at the first couple of pages and it looks cute.  Congrats on publishing your first book!

Thanks everybody. I lost track of this post when the forum changed.

Spit I appreciate you noticing the Avatars. It was something that popped in my head and when I laid it out worked well.

I have book two finished and will be releaseing it hopefully by the end of July. When I do I plan to run the first book as a freebie for a few days. Will come back and post the dates.

  • Book will be available on July 21 to July 24 to download for free. I encourage everyone to download and let me know what you think and help me if you see any improvements I could make. If you were to leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads I would be a happy author. Thanks
