How to tell which hairs are compatible?

One thing the Daz shop is really missing with regards to real time rendering, is information on technical metrics like polygon count.

So far I've had mixed results testing out some cheap hairs I've picked up in the $2 section. Some coming in at 10k polygons, which is entirely manageable, others a million because they're rendering every individual hair strand.

It's not as simple as just decimating the mesh in blender, as that just leaves me with thin, jaggy hairs. It really needs to be imported to unity "as-is" or as close to as possible, meaning the hand crafted low-polygon hairs tend to fair much better.

Is there any resource that can show the kind of data I'd need befre spending money? $2 isn't going to ruin my life, but the pricier/more modern ones that cost $10 a pop could add up very quickly if only 20% of them are actually useable.

Have you tried to decimate the hair directly in Unity?

Just wonder, whot is the best approach to such problem.

I do not think, that there is any database, that contains information about number of polygons, that Daz items contains.
