InaneGlory Photo shoot iRay frustration!

I think I may be being a little dim but I have to cry for help as it's driving me mad!

From what I have read in the online documentation Photo Shoot uses a light figure which you can apply poses too (the poses I guess are the yellow "light" icons) - I understand there should be a basic 3 light set up attached with bones etc for these poses?

I picked up the iRay standalone version and can't for the life of me find a rig that's set up to use the poses? All the presets seem like 2 light set ups.

I know I am clearly missing the point or very much missing something here and its driving me crazy - is the iRay version standalone? Or do I need one of the others to get the basic posable light rig?

Yes, I seem to be able to see all that in there - I can see the 2pt light set ups (with "Light's" highlighted red) but can't figure out how the rigs work enabling me to use the poses with "Light" highlighted in yellow.

One lot of the documentation I found indicates that things are adjusted in the surfaces tab and there is an invisible light in each of the 2 light set ups for switching on to apply the 3pt light poses too?

Ignore me - I've been skipping straight past the first part of the content which has the rigged light sets!!! I think I assumed it was a studio set (as the picture depicts the walls as well) rather than the light rigs!!

Not really frustration here, but I can't figure out if I am doing it right. Is there some documentation please ?

Like what's the difference between helper and normal ones ?

Do I need to load one of the first four rigs ?

Do I then apply the other things to the rig that I load ?

Thanks for any help. An idiot's guide would be useful for me :)

They are adding the user guides from the original Point and Shoot products to the Iray version but Im not sure exactly when that is happening or if it already has. They should have been included when the product was originally released but somehow that didn't happen like it should have. In the meantime you can download them from here:

Point and Shoot User Guide  https://db.tt/RPibSm2e

Point and Shoot 2 (and 3) User Guide  https://db.tt/8pIHzrz4

I think you will find these guide will answer all your questions. If not, please ask or send me a PM.

  • Thank you very much - I'll have a read of those.

Just for your information there was no guide bundled with the product.

Same here -- didn't get any docs when I first purchased. Okay, I figured it out anyway, but it irked me it had nothing. And now I hear it was an error on Daz's side. IG, I almost made this the first product I have ever returned, out of protest. They might have cost you money.

The product now comes with those readme's, but there's a hitch you should be aware of, and ask them to fix: both the With and Without docs versions are concurrently available. They seem identical other than the readmes (they have different filenames, so this is what might have led to the competing versions).
