Hey guys,
I am curious how one can go about making tears in Daz, and animating the the tears to fall down the cheek. Perhaps there is a plugin somewhere for this? Or would I have to handle this post-production in something like AE?
Thanks,
Davide

There is this:

Not sure if you can animate them, though. =-)
The only way I know to animate a tear is using an actual fluid simulation of some sort. Using a static tear prop like the one SereneNight linked can't be animated.
Custom V4 Tears texture animation...
As a test I created a somewhat crude texture animation for v4 of animated tears, not too bad but I think it will give you an idea of what texture animations can do, I used my new texture animator plugin to animate the V4 face texture, it is very short only 3 seconds in length.
Click on below URL to view YouTube video of the animation....

You could try creating a sphere primitive (with enough segments) in DS and set collision with the face. You would still have to manually animate the sphere though and it will not leave a trail behind.
You could animate Actual Tears by using deformers. It might end up being a long and convoluted task but it could be done with enough experimentation and patience.
well in Carrara I would use metaballs, which is not much help but on the off chance you have Carrara too am suggesting it
postworking with Hitfilm, after effects etc may be another way.
if really keen render to image series and edit frame by frame in Gimp or p[hotoshop
This seems to be the most effective way to make a convincing tear...start with a spherical primitive with the iRay water material preset (with caustics turned on) and deform it while simultaneously transforming it across the surface of the skin. I have been experimenting with this approach and it seems to work well, though, as you say, is a long and arduous process of trial and error. It would be nice if something like this could be pre-packaged and made available on the store, if that is possible.
So tempted to suggest, "release a new generation figure ..." ;)
I made a nice one and uploaded it to Freestuff at Rendo - search "Water Drop, drip, drool or sweat 3d model in .OBJ *UPDATE 6/27*" or if this link works here http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?item_id=64595
Its been on of my most popular freebies.
