Acquisition of Z-Brush

hi all,

I just acquired Z-Brush and I wanted to know if anyone can suggest anything to help me get started. Like a how to book of easy projects or something, so I can get out of being consciously incompetent about this program.

I'd like to adjust G2 Male to fit some ideas in my head using Z-Brush, so I'd like some pointers on where to begin. Maybe even the creation of whole new races based on G2 Male and Female.

Congratulations! ZBrush is an awesome piece of software. I got it myself just a little while ago. I started out using the free tutorials on the pixologic site: http://pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/

And then moved on to some of the project based ones offered by Digital Tutors. Those are outstanding but not free. The subscription is really worth though.

    Hi,
I found this book to be great, Getting Started with ZBrush by Greg Johnson. Also , if you can afford it, check out the classes at www.uartsy.com, especially any classes with Paul Gaboury. He also has a great book as well.

    Hope it helps.

    Hey, thanks!

I got it so I can do stuff similar to this guy:

    And this guy:

There is so many fantasy races for RPGs, and not enough artists willing to do stock art, or stock meshes for poser, for them all.

You are looking to do some major morphs for G2M. Keep in mind that you will need to learn to morph the base mesh with subdivision. It must be done at base resolution.

You can do some displacement and other things to then enhance (and those can be done with subdivisions to produce the maps), but the morph itself will be on the base. For tails and other things, you will probably do geografts plus rigging. So there will be a lot more involved, but still possible.

Yes. Some of the tailed races will take practice. I may have to build new figures for some (i.e. the Nommo), rather than alter what's already done.

I'll have to see how it goes after I become competent.
