Having problems with DIM installation and search/sort in Daz3d studio

I am not finding some content items as they are not showing up in the Content or smart display
I have checked to make sure all required files for these content items are installed.

Here are several content items that show to be installed in the DIM, that are not showing up for selecting in Daz3d studio.
.
Hardcore M4 - 9738
Hardcore Textures - 9893
The New Adventure - SKU 9572
The New Adventure Continues - 11485

There are several more that aren't showing up as well. .
These content items appear to be installed in folders =Uzilite_TNA, Uzilite2009, Uzliteplus

I cannot get the daz3d studio to recognize them in the content or smart folders at any level.

They are showing to be installed in DIM.

I can make screen captures, if that will help. I just need to know what is needed.
There is other content that isn't showing up as well. These appear to have the same developer, so I thought to keep as simple as possible.

Maybe, this cannot be corrected without a reinstall of everything. FIne with me I just have to schedule for it. I am using the Beta 8.5 pro Carrara, and the Daz3 4.8 beta. I am using postgreSQL db.

I have one installation folder for all my content, since I do not own Poser.

H://Users/Public/Documents/DAZ 3D/My Library.

In Daz3d studio - the above folder is identified with all files installed using DIM. I have not made any special provisions or installations of any files separate from the DIM, except for applications and plugins.

I have spent a great deal of time "Messing" with the DIM. I would appreciate some help, links to complete documents or tutors to remedy these content access problems.

The clothes are Poser-format - are you looking in Poser Formats>My Library>Figures>Uzilite etc?

Just to note. All products won't show up in smart content and make sure you have poser and DS pathes in DS in your content manager.

    I am so darn lost.

Richard is correct I found the clothing items in the folders. The problem is... I don't know what folder to look in to find things. Yes, I know Runtime...but which folder to start with...and I don't remember when I am using the Studio who is the content developer. Also, in the examples I gave the developer uses three different names. I mean... can it be any simpler.

To good to be 100% true:
My mistake - I thought with smart content all content items related to a specific base character or other base units was accessible with the base content. The idea is fundamentally excellent. I mean being able to work with relational database to search and sort, and work with content. A great idea when you have large amount of content. I was completely ignoring the content directory, using only the smart content as was so eloquently explained in the associated tutorials about working with smart content.tool. Now I find, that it only partially works and poser files are treated differently. Dim doesn't sort out the differences and carry over into the Smart content search and sort as I was thinking.

I have been jacking with the content in the DIM trying to work through this. I saw the content was installed in the DIM, but where the heck it was installed = the problem.

In order to resolve this once and for all... I use Carrara and Daz3d studio.

Is there a config file, a core directory or somewhere I can always sort this out.

Don't get the idea I am trying to rant about this. I just want to quit looking for files I know are there and I don't know how to access them.

Maybe, I should go back to square one...where ever that is. Start over, forget about DIM and do manual installs of everything doing only manual installs.

I honestly...thought the DIM was supposed to be a full range installer and repository. I didn't realize it had limitations dependent up file types. Maybe, it really isn't limitied...I just need to learn how to think about things more carefully when I install them.

I appreciate all the help I get, every time I ask. I definitely appreciate the people on these forums, because support takes several days. It may take a week or more to get answers with back and forth questions.

Please don't think I am frustrated with you, who are trying to help me. I have been on this for over 12 hours yesterday...and 8 today. I have to resolve this weekend as I have a full week ahead and no time for this, except an occasional message.

I have one folder - could you look at that in the starter posting and make a suggestion for how it should be configured?

You can also see my DIM settings in the attachment. Do you see a problem with them? Notice I do not define a folder for Poser files...just one folder for everything.

I have been using the Smart Content only, which I have learned from this thread...is only part of the solution for finding content. I can go with that.

I still see one huge issue I am not understanding. Where do I look in the poser formatted files to find content. I don't recall the author of the content, and it seems the naming conventions are a bit hazy.

What should I look for and where, might be the question I need to ask?

Follow the steps here to be sure DS is mapped correctly.

For ANY item installed with DIM, go to the Installed tab, select the item, right click, then select 'Show Installed Files'

That will show you exactly where the files have been installed to, with the Library name at the very top. All of the links are clickable, so you can go straight to the folder from DIM if you are still not sure where it is. It really is that simple.

You can also try clicking the info link - the circled i next to the product name - which, if there readme exists, will list the folders used and is easier to read than the full installed files list. Unfortunately a lot of older items still lack readmes

There is nothing smart about Smart Content, it relies on metadata to propagate the database. If there is no metadata or that metadata is incomplete than Smart Content is a useless lump. I strongly suggest you go back to using DIM, true shaders and plug-ins are even more difficult to install manually than regular content.

"Smart Content isn't" is unfortunately something to be watched out for. Remember that Smart Content was not a part of DAZ|Studio until (I think) version 4.5 — and there are many years' worth of content made before that, including lots of Poser content, and anything not made by DAZ. All of this depends on extra data included in the installer; creating, checking and adding this is a huge ongoing job, and it's nowhere near finished yet.

You should also keep in mind that the Smart Content tab is not a view of your installed content files, it's a sorted and filtered view of a database of pointers to your installed content files. The Products and Categories views in the Content Library tab also use this database; only the Poser and DAZ Studio Formats views show all of the actual files that make up your installed content.
