Best 3dsMax obj export settings for DAZ import?

March 2022 edited March 2022 in 3ds Max Discussion

Hi, I have an arcade scene made in 3ds max 2016 with cabinets I want to export to .obj and transfer to my DAZ scenes. I would like to know what the best settings are to ensure a smooth import. I'm aware that I need to edit the "Tr" property in the .mtl files.

The trouble I'm having when importing is a loss of mapping coordinates. I'm using default export options, and am switching options trial-and-error and getting nowhere.

I don't even bother editing the MTL file I just delete it after I export an OBJ object and apply the maps after importing to Daz Studio. Deleting the MTL file is perfectly fine since the OBJ contains everything needed within the file. Once you do that the OBJ file actually imports so you can see it otherwise it's invisible if you leave the MTL file as is.

There's a drop down for Daz Studio in 3dsmax just change it to whatever tris, quads, polys.

As long as you have a UVW Map or UV Unwrap in the stack (and it's on) there shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't think.

One other thing I do is upscale on import to about 1200% depending on what it is. I worked that out awhile ago.
