I just received this survey today (23rd April 2015) in my inbox. It reads:

"We are conducting a survey, and your response would be appreciated. Respondants will be sent a coupon for $5 off DAZ Original content, if they respond by Friday, April 22!

Again, this coupon will only be available to those who complete the survey soon, so click the link below to get started!"

Thanks for the notice Daz! Nice of you to send me the email AFTER the expiry of the offer! lol

Edit: I hope they mean "Friday, April 24!"

Things like that tend to warn me off of these "surveys". I would think DAZ would advertise a survey here at the site, especially if they're offering a $5 coupon for it.

I assume its legit because they used my full first name in the email and the only way they'd know that is if they are Daz (because my email account doesn't use my full name).

I think someone just messed up a bit, as usual :)

Oh good, I wasn't the only one who said "Huh" to getting a Survey with a "Due by" date before I actually got it.

I've just home to find this in my inbox, so seeing the date I decided to check that it was real and found the thread so that confirms it's genuine, then looking again I realised that it doesn't specify a year just Friday April 22nd.

So does this mean that we have until 2016 to complete it? Which is the next date that meets the specified criteria, Friday-Check, April-Check, 22nd-Check or is it meant to be 2011 and it's four years late, which makes DAZ E-Mail even slower than transatlantic snail mail, using real snails.

Survey seemed to be designed to solicit feedback on Studio, a program I never touch unless I absolutely have to. Yet the survey didn't even mention Carrara, which is my most used program and for which I have bought thousands of dollars worth of Daz content.

It even mentioned Maya and 3dsMax as choices, but not Carrara... did someone slip up and forget Daz owns Carrara?

Ah well, I'll take the coupon anyway, and did my best to fill in the blanks with my true preferences

I actually logged on to see if there were any posts about it, originally j thought the message was a few days old till I looked at the date.

    Hey everyone.

I was the one who sent this out, and yes I typoed the date. Sorry. =(

Fill it out by Friday and I'll get your coupon to you sometime Monday. Sorry again for any confusion. Survey monkey doesn't allow me to easily send a second email out to explain the typo.

At least you didn't print a school calendar with some event scheduled on the 32nd of the month...

Still waiting for the email, and ditto on Carrara if anyone is paying attention to the other paying customers.

Daz owns Carrara? Really? why wasn't I told?...

Err on second thoughts, maybe someone should tell Daz that they own it?

We didn't forget Bryce, Carrara nor Hexagon when considering those two questions. =)

The survey went out to a randomized sample of DAZ customers.

Sorry Ben - I wasn't trying to single anyone out. Don't worry about it; everyone makes mistakes (god knows I've made my share!) :)

    Thanks for reassuring us.

I miss the customer-designed smileys. They were great :(

I really wish you'd have included them in the survey though - I probably use Hexagon more than I use DAZ Studio - despite the stability issues!

As for the absence of carrara... to the question "Why don't you use Daz Studio" I have answered something like "Because I use Carrara, a sowtware developed by DAZ3D"...

You could have, but you didn't - and it has expired now so is sadly no longer valid :(

You know what they say - use it or lose it!

The survey went out to a randomized sample of DAZ customers.

I suppose it depends on what the purpose of the survey was, but it's hard to think of a logical reason to leave those programs off the list. Seems like it would necessarily skew the information obtained and really reduce its usefulness. Since Hex isn't really a rendering app, if the purpose was to figure out which apps the Daz customer base renders with most then I suppose it might make some sense to leave it off the list. But leaving Bryce and Carrara out of the choices would be really strange, especially since things like 3dsMax and Maya were included. I'm sure there are some 3dsMax and Maya aficionados who also purchase and use Daz content in those apps, but I wouldn't think there would be many, probably a really really small percentage of the Daz customer base. Carrara should make up a much larger percentage, likely 3rd largest behind Studio and Poser. I would think Blender, Vue, Bryce, and Iclone would all also be larger segments of the customer base than 3dsMax, Maya, C4D, Modo, etc.

It's even stranger if Bryce, Carrara and Hex were considered and then purposely left off the list.

Eh, doesn't matter, I did a write-in and it's worth the $5 coupon, but still it's pretty odd.

Speaking as a Bryce user and not as a Mod I am sure that DAZ 3D still don't really understand just how much Bryce and Carrara users do spend at the DAZ 3D store on items which are sold for DS and Poser. :coolsmirk:

I have quite a large purchase history, which goes back to before 2000) and I only ever render in Bryce (Unless I am trying to make some sense out of Carrara)

Somebody needs to edumacate the DAZ people that Mountain Time Zone means two hours off Eastern time, not two days. :blank:

Adding in the dates was a last minute edit. I figured I'd be explicit about which Friday and which Monday to avoid confusion.

Guess that worked out well, huh? =P

LOL probably as well as could be expected around here. The important thing is to have a sense of humour-and as you seem to have managed that I'd say we're ahead of the game :)

It was a randomly selected subset of DAZ buyers. Sorry, gilikshe.

It's okay I'll put in a support ticket last December, which means I can have used the credit in November, which will have been handy as I was going to have spent far to much in the proceeding PC & PA sales :)

Keeps checking messages for the coupon

OK, so I'm impatient; but right now there are lots of flash sales to use it on.
