Stop render _icon.png thumbnails?

Is there any way to prevent DAZ studio from creating thumbnails (_icon.png files) with the rendered images?

Windows creates it's own thumbnails, so the one that DAZ creates is not needed, and I just go in an constantly delete them after every render.

I looked through the DAZ Studio preferences and I don't see a setting for that.

It would be so nice if they were just never created in the first place.

  • My assumption is that Daz uses those _icon.pmg files internally when you're looking at the Render Library contents from inside Daz.

Yes. I never use that to be honest. Wish it was more flexible.

In Render Settings you have a choice to render to a selected folder or the Render Library. Select a folder instead of Render Library and you won't get those annoying icons any more. I'm not on my rendering computer now, so I can't make you a screenshot of the settings.

  • If you open the Render Library pane then you ca, from its option menu (the lined/hamburger button ot right-click the tab) open its directory manager and point it to a folder that is not used for images. If you use the save to folder option from your renders that will ensure that DS doesn't create any thumbnails (not that they will waste a lot of disc space if it does).

That actually worked! Thank you! Wow!
