    As has been noted previously, the high price is so that it can be given away as a freebie on a member's birthday or other occasion without anyone buying it.

    At the end of the Day, DAZ have gone about this completely the wrong way. Technically it makes sense because of the way you have currently built DIM, product library etc, but commercially it makes no sense whatsoever and all you are doing is pi**ing people off by dangling a carrot on a string.

    It has to be in the store, but that doesn't mean it has to be publicly visible to every user with the product page URL or have an absurd price tag:
    1. Content restriction

    This by default would make the product page show the product as unavailable to people not belonging to a group or list of userids, or it could even 404 the page altogether to people not meant to see the page, to prevent merry pranksters from sharing those pages' links.

    2. Automatic discount pricing
    Have the same plugin that tiers pricing for Platinum Club items tier "unavailable" items at 100% discount and key it to a new user table column named "birthdayclub" whose value is the premium product's SKU one day out of the year and NULL the rest. Either it gets reset by date expiry or a callback from Magento sending it to DIM. Since users can't AFAIK force the storefront to display pages based on SKUs, it's the only part of this system that relies on security through obscurity.

    I saw this item just a few days ago and posted a question about a "wrong price."

    Well, I have had multiple birthdays and spent many 1000s of bucks here.... and no one sent me so much as a "get lost, sucker"...... but I am still waiting...... hahaha

    Hmmm . . . trying to think . . . . . . .10 minutes later, not an easy question. Outsde of a limit number of circumstances that would generally only apply to professionals/studios . . . .not coming up with much.
