favourite vendor!

I would love to be able to add favourite vendor and be able just to browse their stuff in it's own category! I think it would makes purchasing things a lot more efficient! I wouldn't stop me from looking at the other stuff but when sales are on it would be easier to choose stuff and not have to search each vendor at a time!

    At the shop page, at the very top, under the banners, there is a vendor category. Click it and then select the vendor of your choice.

    I actually suggested the same thing when they were setting up the new store layout. The option to favorite a vendor and then be able to have say their newest 4 releases show on a separate favorites page. Also getting an email or onesite notification if a favor has a new release.

    Unfortunately, DAZ appears to be going in the opposite direction and making it harder to follow individual vendors. Not only does the store window no longer show all of the vendor names included in a sale by default (it seems to display a max of 16 artists and then you have to start randomly typing names in to find the others) but as of late they seem to be working towards removing or altering the original PA names on a lot of the D.O. product that used to carry them. As an example of the former, they split all the D.O product in Art Collaborations section off into a separate ArtCollab category, while the most recent example of the latter that I caught was that Mean Streets and Ms. Magic are only listed as D.O.s, whereas they used to also list the name of the P.A., Joe Quick.

    Splitting is to help the PA spotlight all their brokered products instead of having all the DO's mixed in. It draws attention away from the broker products when you run a store sale and you make less money. In our case we have over 80 DO's which hid all our brokered products. Our sales on brokered items doubled when we split our store. We are in this business to make money and support our family's. We have to do whatever makes that happen. It is not DAZ that is doing this. It is the PA's that are requesting it because of the issues I just listed. I hope this brings a better understanding of the cause for the splitting of the stores.

    Yeah in our case DAZ had nothing to do with the choice, we made it ourselves :) We have double (or maybe even triple the amount of DOs that we do brokered packs so when we would be part of a sale, the items we broker just got completely buried. After 3 or so years of that, we made a choice to separate the two so we could better advertise our brokered items, to help them be more visible and less buried, and so we could stay doing packs. We love doing the DAZ Os and freebies but without some residuals coming in on brokered items, we can't afford to take the time to do the larger DAZ Os as we would be making nothing in between so this was a way to help alleviate that issue while still being able to do the freebie sets :) If it is causing confusion or any issues, we are very sorry :( It wasn't done to confuse people.

    So ArtCollab is your broker/partner listing with DAZ and Art Collaborations is your PA vendor listing?

    Thank you for explaining the split but honestly this just reinforces the OP request. If there was a favorite page for our accounts the split become irrelevant as we would control who gets displayed on that page/search. Only the ones listed would show there. I even made a page example back in October of a possible layout that fits the current theme.

    http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/41469/

    I don't think it would drop sales in other areas either. People would still browse the new releases/ sales/ etc on the front page. It would just help us keep track of the folks we buy from the most.

    I think the worry would be that some would mostly only look at their "favorites" possibly and then potentially miss things they would otherwise enjoy by others. Also it could put new merchants here at a bit of a disadvantage since the longer you are around the more likely people would know and like you and thus view your store/products etc on the "favorites" list.

    Also not sure coding wise if it would be difficult but certainly doesn't hurt to make a suggestion and I'll be sure to point this one out to DAZ3D to make sure they see it :)

    Just FYI, in order to implement the back button working correctly when you are using the infinite scroll mode we pop a little bookmarkable version of your filter settings into the URL right before you navigate to a product. If you set your filter/sort settings to how you like them and then click the first product in the list and hit the back button the Location/URL bar should have something that you can bookmark and come back to later. The format of this URL might change in the future, so if it breaks you get to keep both pieces.

    For example, I filtered on a handful of PA's and did this trick and came up with this URL. If you click it you will notice you will get a normal list of products on the site except it is filtered to just the randomly selected vendors I picked.

    Fisty: that works, what does not work is the dropdown menu on a sales page like this:
    http://www.daz3d.com/mm3003-pas-mond
    Filter by artist ... you get 16 names to choose from and all others you have to type in the empty field to find out if there is a product by them.

    indeed, that part is next to useless.. but the person I replied to didn't seem to know there was a very nice alternative.

    If you really want to see the whole list (and, see why we don't show you the whole list) you can throw this javascript into a bookmarklet (search google to figure out exact directions for your browser). Most browsers will need you to put "javascript" and then a colon ":" at the start of this, but the forum software won't let me put it in here directly.

    $('#vendor_drop li').css('display','block');

    Then, after you open the dropdown for the vendors you can click that bookmarklet and drink straight from the firehose.

    What I'd like to know - and I ask this because somebody here probably knows a clever way of doing it - is who my favourite vendors are. i.e. some way of getting a list of which vendors I've bought the most products from, and/or which ones I've spent the most money with.

    I think Cypherfox has a scriptlet similar to his Wishlistify (which is a fantastic tool) which lets you view only products you own. You can then use the Artist pull-down and see which PA's are at the top.

    Er... if you read the section that you cut off of your quote, you'll see that the other half of my comment referred to the problem that those actual vendor categories now no longer necessarily display all the product created by some PAs. In other words, I was making a comment to the effect of "The car's fuel gauge is no longer displaying accurately" and your response was essentially "This is where the fuel gauge is." :blank:

    Of course, what's really missing from the store, and always has been, is a way to sort through the product that you've already purchased product inventory by artist. It's one of the things I've always liked about the way Rendo's store is set up, and obviously the data necessary to do it IS being tracked by DAZ's store, since it knows enough to hide (most of) the products that you've already purchased and has to track payments due to individual artists.

    Well me and hubby explained the second half of your comment on the previous page. DAZ3D doesn't rename vendors, vendors do that themselves. Whether they decide to "rebrand" themselves (some merchants -not necessarily here- do this monthly I swear LOL) or decide like we did to separate their work by DO and brokered etc or they partner with someone and decide to combine stores etc and pick a more a new company name to both people's liking etc. I think Fisty was specifically replying to the other part of having trouble finding PAs in general. You would be amazed how many people don't actually notice the Vendor list so I don't think posting it or how to use it/get to it is a bad thing by any means :) While it may be something you knew, it may not be something someone else knew of who is reading this thread :)

    As far as what you were referring to (which I assume is the "Filter by Artist" drop down). I think it auto-displays the most searched or maybe most popular vendors at the time -or in general?- so then you would either need to type in or use the vendors list that Fisty mentioned to get to the rest of the PAs. Having "every" PA listed there I think would possibly be a bit too much and you'd be scrolling awhile so I can get why only some are listed though IDK why they picked 16. Maybe due to how much screen area is being taken on mobile devices etc? IDK honestly :)

    It displays the 16 vendors with the most items in that particular category.

    AH Thank you, I wasn't sure :)...I never use that so I wasn't positive. I tend to go straight for the vendors list when I want to view someone specific :)

    Greetings,

    chris said:
    What I'd like to know - and I ask this because somebody here probably knows a clever way of doing it - is who my favourite vendors are. i.e. some way of getting a list of which vendors I've bought the most products from, and/or which ones I've spent the most money with.So I have a couple of ways of doing this.

    The simplest is on my Bookmarklet page. It's called 'My Products'. You drag it to your bookmarks bar, go to the main store page (that's the only place it works!) and click it. Now you can pull up the dropdown to filter by artists, and you'll see the counts of how many items you own by each artist, ordered by the ones you've bought from the most.

    As per the discussion above, it'll be limited to 16, but you can search for other artists to see how that's worked out. That gives you number of purchases, not amount spent. In order to do THAT, it requires pulling down your purchase history, which is more complex.

    So, for example, my top 16 are:

    * DAZ Originals (2803)
    * Sarsa (404)
    * Bobbie25 (178)
    * Jack Tomalin (150)
    * Moyra, Valandar (118) -- A tie(!?!)
    * Ravenhair (103)
    * Stonemason (96)
    * ForbiddenWhispers (90)
    * Val3dart (78)
    * deviney, Xena, ArtCollab (77) -- Another tie!
    * Thorne (76)
    * Silver (73)
    * Mada (69)

    Obviously it's dominated by the folks who typically provide DO's, especially for bundles, and PC[+] vendors.

    Thank you! I wished I could understand how to do that ... unfortunately I don't succeed.
    But it is nice of you to listen!

    Unfortunately it's because the forum changed the apostrophes to 'smart quotes'.

    $('#vendor_drop li').css('display','block');
    Put (without quotes) 'javascript' and ':' before that, on the main store page, in order to see everything. I can make another bookmarklet for you, if that doesn't work out well.

    I used that to open up the list of vendors after filtering with 'My Products' and found that the next few vendors were: goldtassel, SWAM, Predatron, 3D Universe, petipet, LaurieS, Fred Winkler Art, marforno/Danie, and Sickleyield, and that there are 80 vendors from whom I've only bought *1* item, each.

    Fun stuff! :)
