SInce my work is animated videos there are many content items I might be more interested, if I could view a short video clip.
Daz3d wouldn't have to do anything, but provide an embed field to developers.
Reallusion has done this for years, and it really makes alot of difference when you are producing animation.
I have seen many content items that have interesting images, The items are not cheap and I don't know how they will produce in animated scenarios. I see content items that would be exciting to use in videos, but I have no idea how they will render in videos or even work.
If this isn't possible with DAZ3d, the developers/artists should create video clips, post them on youtube, and provide a link in their content information.
By doing this it should enable more sales of content items by developers and artists. As it is, those with the flexibility needed for animation are lumped with static scene content items.
Animated videos are the future. The youtube is the second largest search engine, and the number of youtube users is enormous.

People love movies.

The caveat here is that animations take significantly longer to prepare and to render than still images. Making promo's in an animated form isn't necessary for much of the content sold in store, since the idea of the images is to give you an idea of how something looks from different angles.
There are actually items which include Youtube videos to demonstrate them. Aave Niven helpfully included one to show off the drape morphs on her outfits. Not all items will benefit from this though, so it's not something commonly seen.
I realize the DAZ3D has mostly been about artist renders and fixed images.
DAZ3d can continue to embrace their mostly static environment and there will be people like myself who will try to sort out what they can use.
All the trouble of making videos is over-rated. Most developers on Reallusion wouldn't put up any ccontent items with just static images. They put up video as well. Reallusion provides an embed field so viewers don't leave their site and go to youtube.
Windows comes with a free movie package and it works with youtube. You can make movies easy, because with animated videos the files are produced and saved in the computer. You don't need a camera and you can use a cheap Ear bud mic for voice overs.
You want to sell your stuff make extra effort, make video- > it pays
To be honest, it is hard to believe videos haven't become mainstream on Daz3d by now.
Here are a couple links fo show video demos -
Note the click to Demo video in the upper left corner

The link takes you to youtube

Realluson provides the fields for pictures and video, which keeps viewers on the Reallusion site in their store.
Another thing.. .. youtube has a large assortment of free music and sound effects you can add to your videos, along witth annotations and other improvements.
Personally not a fan of animated clips on web pages. As long as it's an option to click and does not try to load automatically, then I have no problem with them being included, but I can imagine doing an animation over a still promo would be more time consuming.. I run a script on my browser to block most animations on web pages.
I like Youtube and I visit it every so often, but the ads are very annoying and the maturity level of most posters in the comments and the copyright violations don't help with the sites credibility IMO.
To bad DAZ doesn't have it's own video site for tutorials and promos, I would prefer going there over youtube.
I'd prefer Vimeo for the tuts...lots of other places like CGCookie put their tuts up there...just seems more geared to that kind of stuff that Youtube.
It doesn't really matter to me who the hosting service is.
It is expensive to host video on your own site, video can bog down the server unless it has capacity for hosting video and bandwidth.
All videos should require viewers to click to view.
I use Daz mostly for animation, so I can see where you're coming from.
I will say that Daz has a thirty-day money back guarantee, and they stand behind it 100%, in my experience.
So you can always buy something and render a quick animation to see if it's useful to you or not.
