The latest DS betas have a new parameter in Render Optimization -> Guided Sampling

Here are examples (all rendered 3 min on RTX 2070 notebook):

Guided off, Caustics off

Guided on, Caustics off

Guided off, Caustics on

Caustics on wins for realism but Guided On gets close.

But what it you turn both on ;)

  • The blog post by the Iray dev indicates guided sampling can speed up some renders. https://blog.irayrender.com/post/670028436722647040/iray-202110-beta-part-ii

Anyone done any time testing for scenes yet?

I've tried with both on and it's not too bad. Not a speed demon, but I have a decent card so mileage may vary. The image also has spectral rendering turned on as well. Took about 20 minutes.
