Jack Tomalin I love your models but why so many identical textures?

in particular the dream home
all the dimmer switches, ceiling lights etc in every room are the same but every jack one ( no pun intended) references a new map for each room.
I know you did not create it with Octane Render in mind but it is a huge job to go through and find one and apply to all the identical items in other rooms.
Aslan light fittings too.
I am not nitpicking,
accept was an older model,
just pointing out for future models it is something to consider, maybe a generic folder in your runtime textures instead of separate ones for each model where you re-use maps and shaders.
Many are using Octane render and would appreciate this very much.

Is that using the DS to Octane plugin? I can't say I've had a problem like that.. (which is probably why I haven't done anything about it)
But yea, in the case of the DH... that pre-dates Octane by miles.
Aslan - I'm not sure, are you talking about the material zones? In which case, I give them individual names for flexibility in DS.. they use the same maps most of the time.
Aslan I can connect maps but it still treats them as separate shaders which is a pain if making texture emitters, once saved though I do re-use
but yes dreamhome has been driving me nuts,
I do notice you love a lot of maps in general though with uv mapped textures rather than texture tiles,
I have to redo most walls etc with a proceedural instead.
your light switches, ceiling lights and powerpoints are all identical but each a new shader.
Just saying please never do that again
oh you probably have a TitanZ too I just have a GTX 760 :long:
if you take into carrara, would the consolidate dup shaders be of any help?
no that is the problem
most things you can but Jack gives his separate names
the thing is carrara can handle the dreamhome fully furnished DAZ studio cannot on my PC
Octane of course cannot
and that is the texture load
I have rendered the entire thing in carrara with carrara's native renderer at a reasonable speed too.
I am getting greedy though with Octane wanting to put more into scenes like all of the West Park stuff etc too.
Incidently I can get the entire dreamhome in easy as pie with a superfast sampling rate fully furnished with detalis and yard if I reduce the textures to the size of a postage stamp.
I would directly edit the poser files with a text editor
