Settings for HD Characters

Let's says I have Lee 6 HD. In Parameters, it's at High Resolution, the HD is at 1, the Subdivision is also at 1. I've been told that I don't have to change the Subdivision level if I want to render in DAZ|Studio. When I render, D|S will apply the HD automatically. Is that true?

I've also been told to change the Subdivision level to 3 if I want to render in Lux.That seems to be the case.

But, how about HD in D|S. Can I just leave the Subdivison at 1?

Yes, 3Delight will always render to the SubD level required by your render settings regardless of the viewport setting (SubD does need to be on, however - setting the mesh resolution to Base will turn it off entirely in 3Delight). Things like LuxRender via either of the bridges, or Ocatane via its plug-in, will use the viewport SubD setting as far as I know so for those (or for export to OBJ for use in another application) you would need to turn the setting up to 3.
