i would guess export base GF8 to your modeling app to use as a guide. Then model the necklace. Then delete the GF8 figure and import the necklace into DS and rig it.

I've bought that. It's been of no use to me, as you need Zbrush to correct deformations in the mesh.

Ahh, definitely no use for me too.

Okay, I have made a rough necklace in blender.

So, shall I import it as OBJ into DAZ and then rig it?

If you go to this post: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/6651076/#Comment_6651076 and follow from step 8, where I say 'hair' substitute your necklace, and if there are no morphs, stop at the end of step 11. In step 10, specify the clothing as fitting to the top of the figure - selecting the most appropriate option. You now have a conforming necklace. It is not yet a library item. For that you need to save it as a support asset which gets the geometry & UV's saved in the DS data folder. I am away from my DS machine, and as my memory is a bit dodgy, I must NOT give step by step instructions from here, as they'll be wrong!

Maybe someone else can tell you how to do it from here.

    Regards,

    Richard

    Oh, nice. Thanks!

So what I understand is start at Step 8 and Stop at step 11. Am I correct?

I am failing miserably, everytime, perhaps I am the last idiot alive on this planet. And its strange, nobody has a video tutorial on the same. I think this is where I will stop my hobby.

I give up. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!

People are making crazy stuff here and I am a moron just sitting here and failing to understand simple steps.

  • I'm sorry, I have been utterly flat out at work the last couple of days,. I will jump back on my machine this evening and run through it, noting down every step. I am sorry though, I won't be doing a video tutorial. Video & I don't get on!

    Regards,

    Richard

Okay, so you've created and uvmapped and applied materials of some kind to your .obj file.

Then in D/S you load it into the scene where it lands exactly where it should be on the figure.

Then you run the Transfer Utility. see image for possible suggested settings.

Then you select and save the new necklace.

This is not finished enough to sell but it certainly gives you a necklace for a render or three ;-)

This was made quickly for an example.

I hope I can add a little to what Catherine has said in my attached .pdf file. It's a small step by step guide from a relatively novice user compared to Catherine. I hope the images are clear enough as there are a few. Regards, Richard.

  • Yes that very nicely goes over the details :-)

  • Thank You all of you!

I had given up on the idea after multiple failures. I will take out some time and go through yout instructions.

  • I hope it works for you. I did pretty close to that method when creating my hoop earrings freebie here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/535511/g8f-hoop-earrings-freebie
