Looking to Buy new PC for DAZ Exclusive
I have looked at previous posts and some seem dated. I will make my points quick:
I have tried other products, and for me personally, DAZ is the best for me.
I recently got a great deal on Carrara 8.5, ($65.00) don't know how to use it but I will Learn.
I am creating art with Hexagon for modeling and DAZ Studio for building scenes and save out RIB files to render in I-Display.
I currently have:
Dell XPS 8300 INTEL(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz
16 GB Installed Memory
1 ATI Radeon HD 5670 Video Card with 4083 MB Total Available Graphics Memory and 1024 MB Dedicated Video Memory
Dual Dell monitors (ST2220L) @ 1920X1080
My system is great. My renders through 3Delight are no longer than 4 hours using lights, shaders, large environments, etc.
I know some people have larger render times, but for what I am doing, I try to keep them down to around 4 hours.
I have Luxrender and I am sure it is a great product, I just haven't put in the time it deserves. and will eventually use it.
I love the 3Delight render engine, and will continue using it as long as DAZ allows.
My understanding is that for DAZ Products:
CPU - (more cores the better and a high GHz)
Memory - (16 GB or more)
Video Card (Doesn't matter with 3Delight because it uses CPU to render)
Is this correct?
I plan on getting a new PC to be used exclusively for DAZ products and my budget is $2500:
Thanks for your time!
Garrett

Garrett,
You are broadly correct although make sure your graphics card is OpenGL compliant as this is the standard used by the viewport. If you can afford it, go for 32GB, especially if you are into large complex scenes.
Cheers,
Alex.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I was looking at spending about a grand on a top end video card, but if it is not going to help my renders, then I guess there in no need. The 5th generation i7's are not available yet for desktops. Currently:
4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4790 processor (8M Cache, up to 4.0 GHz)
32GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz - 4 DIMMs
AMD Radeon™ HD R9 270 2GB GDDR5
or
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti 2GB DDR5
I dont think there is much upgrade for me at this point. so I guess I will wait.
