Daz To Maya To Daz Animation - Control Rig IK, how to get it work?

August 2021 in Maya Discussion

Hi,

After giving up with Daz IK controls (param siders, timeline graph editor and programmatic changes just break the IK chains), I've decided to try with Maya but am having a few issues getting started.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on what I'm doing wrong, but I haven't found anything useful as of yet.

Goal:

- Export a Gen8 char to maya, animate it, then save the animation for use back within Daz.

Steps:

1) Load Genesis 8 (Dev) in Daz

2) Export to Maya through Daz to Maya Bridge

3) Add the files to the correct Maya location (D:, probably just for me)

4) Import into Maya

5) Delete objects and set character source to None

6) Save Maya scene

7) Apply Daz Rig

8) Switch to Control Rig

9) Do some basic IK animation (crazy stuff happens here)

10) Bake animation

11) Export animation

12) Import animation onto Gen 8 char in Daz

Failure:

- When posing the character using the IK controls in maya, a number of things are messed up, it seems as though there are additional IK handles for the chest and face that move meshes. I'm not sure exactly what to do.

I'm using Daz 4.15.0.2, DazToMaya bridge 1.8.0, Maya 2022 (with python 3 as default in this situation)

Thanks

I'm seeing the same thing following the recommended steps.  Same versions of all.  The rigging seems to be doing something odd.  I'm using an 8.1 character though.
