How to Apply Shaders to Jepe's Art Deco Statuettes

Ok, this may be a dumb question as I somehow got it to work once. But how exactly do I apply shaders to the statues or the additional items contained within like the silks etc. 

If i click on the statue and then the shader it does nothing.

If you mean shader presets, make sure you are selecting both the item and the surface.
