Batch Convert Genesis 2 to Genesis HOW TO USE

I am trying to transfer some of my G2 skins to Genesis. From my understanding this is supposed to do that right? I was able to "kind of" figure out how to work the Batch G2 to Genesis Materials, but I for the life of me cant figure out the Batch G2 Map Transfer. I have tried everything in the walk through but for what ever reason what it is saying and what I am see is not lining up.

Could some one give some guidance on maybe how i can use this to get my G2 skins like Aiko 6 or Victoria 6 to Genesis?

and as a heads up I do have both

Genesis 2 Male and Female Base UVs for Genesis

&

Victoria 6 and Michael 6 UVs for Genesis

The batch tool is for creating the needed materials presets for applying the textures - it doesn't convert the textures. You still need the UV set for Genesis - either http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-male-and-female-base-uvs-for-genesis for the base or http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-6-and-michael-6-uvs-for-genesis for the Michael/Victoria 6 maps.

You need to use the Batch G2 Map Transfer bonus script that is included with Batch Convert Genesis 2 to Genesis to convert the textures that are other then Base Female/V5/V6/Base Male/M5/M6 to Base Female/Base Male.

    FROM THE STORE PAGE:

But what about the other UVs that have been created for Genesis 2? There's no UV conversion for them!

Don't worry, I've got you covered with Batch Genesis 2 Map Transfer to Base UV.
The bonus script Batch Genesis 2 Map Transfer to Base UV, will let you convert all the other UVs.

The Map Transfer, is a tool that is included with DAZ STudio 4. It is a handy little program that converts textures files from one UV format to another. But after you have done the conversion you still need to assign these textures to the surface properties, and change the UV Setting, and create a new Material Preset....

The Batch Genesis 2 Map Transer to Base UV, let's you setup:
    1) Where you want the converted texture files will be written to.
    2) Where the Create Material Preset .duf files will be written to.
    3) What Material Preset .DUF files to convert.

Once you have made these decisions, and press the 'Convert the files' button, this scripts loops thru each Material Preset files listed. As each Material Preset file is loaded, the Map Transfer tool is started, waiting for you to press the Apply button. That is your only interaction for each file that is needed. After you have converted your Material Presets and textures to the Base Male or Female UV, you can then use the Batch Convert Material Presets G2M to Genesis or Batch Convert Material Presets G2F to Genesis to make the textures available to Genesis thru Material Presets.

Thank you so much for your replays! I do have both the needed products.

@DraagonStorm I thought that was what I was doing but maybe not? Bellow are the steps I am doing. Maybe you can tell me what step I am doing wrong?

I used Lilith for the example but this happens no matter what person I try. I have already set the location to where I want the converted mats.

    1. I choose the the file that I think is the MAT i need.

    2. I hit convert.

3.It asks me if i want to continue.

    4. It then tells me where I need to get resource files. Although the location was not the same as in the pop up I was able to find the the folder it was talking about.

    5. I hit load and navigate to the referenced folder.

    6. I select the all template file located in the resources folder.

    7. I highlight all the files... (not really sure what to do at this point, so i am flying blind) and hit accept.

    8. I then get this error and nothing has happened or changed.

Sorry for being such a noob on all this stuff.. I would really be grateful for any and all assistance you can provide.

If the UV set of the G2F is not Base Female, V5 or V6 you need to run Convert G2 textures to Base UV first, to make the textures conform to Base Female UV. Then you use those Material Presets to Convert from Genesis 2 to Genesis.

Not sure, but you may have to go along with DAZ Studio's normal setup for where textures are to be found...

    Instead of
    C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library/UV G2 to Genesis/Textures
    try this
C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library/Runtime/Textures/UV G2 to Genesis/(And the character name you are converting)

Daz by default expects textures to be in ..../Runtime/Textures folder.

Am I at least doing the correct steps? I have changed the directory as you suggested but I am still getting that error about it not writing files and nothing happening.

If the UV set of the G2F is not Base Female, V5 or V6 you need to run Convert G2 textures to Base UV first, to make the textures conform to Base Female UV. Then you use those Material Presets to Convert from Genesis 2 to Genesis.

Just to clearify does that mean if I am trying to convert Aiko for example I need to change the Target UV map to V6 and run it then run it again as base female? Or do I touch that thing at all?

    Where is the Default directory for V6 or G2? In my Victoria 6 directory ( C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Textures\UV G2 to Genesis\My DAZ 3D Library\People\Genesis 2 Female\Materials\Victoria 6 ) I have V6 Belle All.duf Is that the default? I cant find just a Victoria 6 all.duf or a Genesis2F.duf any ideas?

I figured trying a test with just a default girl would be the best for trouble shooting, but alas no...

Thank you for your continued patients, any more ideas would be helpful.

Let's start at the beginning.. (The questions you asked aren't making any sense)

You have Lilith 6 (Who's textures are created for the UV Set Lilith 6). So you need to first convert these textures to the UV Set Base Female.

    1. Start Batch G2 Map Transfer
    2. Select the path where you want the converted textures to be written to. (Personally I created a new folder and subfolders in my .../Runtime/Textures folder, that I named /DraagonStorm/MapTransfer/Lilith6)
    3. Select the path for the Material Preset files (Again I created a new folder and subfolders in my ../People/Genesis 2 Female/Materials/ConvertToBase/Lilith6)

    4. Under the first list box captioned, Source Material Files, press the button labeled "Select Material File(s) To Convert. When the window opens locate the material preset files for Lilith 6, From a previous screen shot up posted I believe the location for you is: C:/Users/Public/Public Documents/My DAZ 3D Library/People/Genesis 2 Female/Materials/Lilith 6, and select which Material Presets you want to convert. The three list boxes will automatically fill in with the information the script needs to do it's thing.

    5. Press the 'Convert the files' button

    6. When the Map Transfer screen comes up, the first thing you will want to do is 'Load...' the template to do the map transer. I created different templates depending on what your are actually transfering.. All Materials, Eyes.. That kind of thing. So let's assume were doing Lilith 6 All MAT right now.. So you would press the button 'Load...' I'm pretty sure this automatically goes to the resources folder of where DAZ Studio is installed, from there open the folder DraagonStorm/Batch G2 Map Transfer, and select G2_All_Template.dsx (if you can't find the DraagonStorm folder there, it is also in the resources folder of Batch Map Transer. Once you have done this, you will notice that all of items under Surfaces have moved over to Templates and are under different Template #s. The templates loads up all of the nessary information.. From there all you need to is press Accept, and wait for the textures to be converted.

When you've processed all of the files listed in the list box... You can close the script. And start Converting those Material Presets you've just created to Genesis.

The Map Transfer should look like this after you have loaded G2_All_Template.dsx.

Everything is Smooth up til step 6.

from there open the folder DraagonStorm/Batch G2 Map Transfer, and select G2_All_Template.dsx (if you can’t find the DraagonStorm folder there, it is also in the resources folder of Batch Map Transer

I found the "batch Map Transfer" folder in the Script folder in my daz 3d library. I am guessing that is ok though since that is where the auto installer put it? From there I click on "Resources" Folder then "G2F" Folder and this is were I find the G2_All_Template.dsx file. After clicking on it nothing transfers over though. It does the same thing as Image 007 bellow. I do not get the same image as you after loading that G2_All_Template.dsx file from the G2F folder.

Ah ha, I see your problem. You have DAZ Studio installed to the Program Files folder. This folder by default thru Windows is secured so that nothing can be created or edited by another program or script.

I gave you bad instructions, when I said you could use the template found in Scripts/Match Map Transer/resources/G2F (so that's my bad). Those .dsx files there are used by the script to create a .dsx Template that will work with what you a transferring. But that .dsx file is suppose to be written to the folder (WhereYourDAZStudioIsInstalled)/resources/DraagonStorm/Batch G2 Map Transfer. But since you have that in Program Files, Windows security will not let me create the new folders, or write the .dsx files there for you to use.

So you can either turn off Windows security thru the UAC, Or uninstall DAZ Studio, and reinstall it to a different Folder. Personally I created a folder on my C: drive and named it DAZ 3D, where I install all DAZ programs to.

    HAZAH!!!

I took your advice and just re installed DAZ and all its contents to C:/DAZ 3D. After messing around for a few hours trying to get everything to work and show up in my content folders I tried doing it again and it seemed to work!

So now that i have this lilith6 converted to the "base" file... I need to do it again (same process?) before I can use it on Genesis or do I now use the G2 to Genesis Materials script on those lilith6 folders?

Thank you so much for all your help thus far I suspect only 1 or 2 more post from me bugging you and I have it all figured out lol

Now you can convert the base female version of Lilith 6 to Genesis using the G2 to Genesis Script.

It all seems to work... It did ask me for some tif files that I didn't know anything about or were they would be located but I just skipped them. Still seemed to load on the Genesis. I did another test and it went very well... no errors or anything else strange.
Any ideas about what the tif files could have been about?

In any case THANK YOU so much for your help! I love your Products and you can expect me to get many more of them in the future due to your AWESOME Support!

After fighting with this for 3 days, I am stuck. I have the Domina texture, which by default is Base Female UV. I am trying to convert it do be used as a Victoria 5 UV set. If I use either of the Batch transfers on a preset, they run off and complete in seconds saying finished, but there are no files created. If I us the G2 to Genesis Map transfer on a preset of the domina file, it runs through and finishes quickly, and there are no files.
What program should I be using to take the Base Female files and convert them to files that can load properly onto Genesis and use as V5? Pease??
I have tried the Studio file Map Transfer, and the result seems fine: I get texture files that I load back in individually as surfaces, but when I render, I get overlaps at the shoulders and at the thighs.
What's really aggravating is that I successfully did this back In November, but cannot remember how nor replicate it.

These scripts were not written to go Base Female for Genesis 2 to Victoria 5 UV...

The main script rewrites the .duf files so that they can be used with the material names of Genesis. It does not write textures files.

The Batch Map Transfer was written so that for some of the other UVs that are available to Genesis 2 can be converted to the Base UV for Genesis 2. It uses the Map Transfer which is part of DAZ Studio, but does the 'grunt' work for you assigning the new texture files and creating a new .duf material preset, that you can then use to transfer to Genesis .duf.

If Domina is Base Female UV for Genesis 2 (I'll take your word for it ;) ) Then you would use Batch Convert Genesis 2 to Genesis. But you would need to have purchased genesis 2 male and female base uvs for genesis The UV Sets have to match.

    Thank you!
The goal here is to be able to use Skin Builder.
Come to think of it, I have purchased Genesis 2 Base UV.s to Genesis.

I can get it so the converted texture loads onto V5, but as a "Genesis 2 Female UV"
As I said, I am trying to get to V5 UV to use Skin Builder.

So you just want to convert the textures from Base to V5... Not go from Genesis 2 to Genesis?

OK.. You could use Batch Map Transfer with a couple of more steps.

When The Map Transfer interface is shown, and before you press 'Accept'. Select all of the items listed under Templates, then change Target UV Map: to Victoria 5

After everything is finished... Load the material preset that was created. Go to the surface tab and select Genesis 2 Female so that everything is selected, then change the UV Set to Victoria 5. and save the material preset.

You would now have a 'converted' Base to V5 material preset.

Open the content library you installed it to, from the Content Library tab. Then open Scripts, then open Utilities, then open BatchRender DS_RIB
