Move issues after importing rigged character to Maya

Banshee_SquadBanshee_Squad Posts: 14
July 2021 in Maya Discussion

I'm just starting to transition to DazStudio after many years of a very poor Poser-to-Maya workflow. Right off the bat the Daz to Maya bridge is an amazing tool, full of lots of potential.

I'm running into scaling and movement issues. I've basically sorted my scaling issues by reverse engineering my scale needs and setting a scale in Daz before bridging. Good/close enough. Now I am getting beffuddled by the way the rig/skeleton and the mesh move at different rates. I've tried grouping them (in several different ways) and they never move together. Now, the rig still runs the mesh, even if it's somewhere else entirely, and even after I manually move it back into the mesh... But is there really no way to get them to move as one?

Thanks for any thoughts about this.

Okay, I sorted this out. Best kind of solution, I was just doing a simple wrong thing. I was selecting both the rig AND the mesh global controls, so the mesh was getting move info from the rig and again form the mesh. When I select only the rig controls I can move the rig and the mesh follows just as it should.
