Hiya,

I have to say... I LOVE the Lake Village by Faveral - if you haven't seen it... take a look and if you havent bought it... do it!

Anyway....

Does anyone know where I could get a FISHING ROD - mainly one to fit the scene, so wooden not modern???

I've looked around in other places but there are either Low res and ugly or too modern to match the Jolly boat I've also got for the scene.

Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction...

or

fingers crossed DAZ will make one soon!?

Meg.

ShareCG has at least 3 free fishing rods with reels. I'm not allowed to post links to them, but just go to ShareCG and search for "fishing rod". Maybe they are too modern for you. Maybe you could hide the reel.

there's also a "bamboo fishing pole" by France at sharecg in the DS section.

How about one of our Brodie's. He has a spare... :-)
err, .. for some reason our Brodie isn't rendering correctly at all at all! (He's Irish (an all an all) :cheese:

Ah! Chohole beat me to it, (but not with the stick)
The fly rod is quite good, old enough, and the reel turns out nice, brass/antique sort-of
I've d/loaded all of them, and tried some, but disappointingly none of them feature a 'bend' morph, and you can't do a render of someone fishing without a good bend in the rod, especially fly fishing.
I tried rendering Brodie again (3 more times_ whilst changing the sss and other settings... failed miserably!
Then I changed his skin mats.. to his alter-ego Jayce,.. and here's the result!
However, as I set out to assist with the fishing rod question, .... my choice, (from Chohole's list) mindful of the 'Old type' criteria, is the fly rod.
    Brass reels scream Antique! :)
Here's our school boy Ash, showing the fly rod for your approval.

Edited to show the pic BEFORE render, First time I've rendered Jayce, ... looks great in the viewfinder but..... :smirk:

Brodies pale complexion is most likely caused by a subsurface shader error generally a save and restart will correct the issue. It tend to arise when using the undo command in certain circumstances with the subsurface shader base.

I'm obliged for your post Razor, I noticed the error message during the renders, and posted a screen grab in the PC Members 'Brodie' thread.
However, I don't think this is something to 'just put-up-with'. I certainly know I haven't used the 'un-do' as you mention, and the fact is Brodie has a problem, which mainly results in him being 'not fit for purpose' as it stands right now.
I'm really anxious to have him work 'as it should' so I await with bated breath DAZ's fix for him, and I know I'm not the only one with this problem

I've continued the problem in the Brodie Thread in the PC Members forum, which hopefully will bring some info on a fix and up-date to the file.
Edited to include error screen grab
    Regards,
    Vinny

Cloned Answer from the PC thread for anyone else who may be following the thread...

    3Delight message #45 (Severity 2): S2069: the interface of shader ‘C:/Documents and Settings/*****/Application Data/DAZ 3D/Studio4/shaders/brickyard/{407f8e5c-3a9b-4708-b5e5-799ff1fe7c1d}/shader_Surface.sdl’ is invalid

You may experience this whiting out error with any figure that uses the AoA Subsurface shader as a base on occasion.

I have heard of a number of potential situations which may cause this issue:

    1. Running two Daz Screens simultaneously - the shared temp folder may causes clashes that result in this error when rendering
    2. Having two figures share the same Subsurface Group ID - In this case select the skin surfaces of one of the figures and change the group ID to unique identifier.
    3. Save - load processes - this may result in the shader compiler error on the odd occasion
    4. Using undo on a subsurface figure in particular situations - this one is hard to repeat on demand but has been known to trigger the error.

Generally by saving the scene and closing Daz studio and waiting for all associated tasks to terminate and then relaunching Daz Studio and reloading the scene the error will not trigger again when the shaders are compiled at render time. * Unless multiple objects share the same group ID in the scene which will need to be changed to fix the error. (This process is the only way I know of correcting the shader error, it basically clears the temp folder allowing the shader sets to be rebuilt when reopened)

This error is related to compiling the AoA Subsurface Shader and is not related to Brodie 6 or a figure directly. If your only experiencing this error in a particular scene and Brodie 6 renders fine normally it is most likely due to a failure of the shader executing correctly.

If this occurs on all renders using the Subsurface shader then it is more likely to be a permission error for the shaders folder or you do not have the Subsurface shader base installed correctly in your system.

You can find numerous threads documenting this issue in the forum. Hope this helps :)
