[I came here to ask this question as well.  I may have to kit-bash a couple things (one thing, one primitive, or a couple primitives) in order to achieve this.  The hard part might be the tassel.  I seem to recall having seen the honor ribbons/sashes for g8/8.1 somewhere but I do not recall where.]

Strangely enough, SY Morphing Primitives and Merchant Resource has a tassle in it.  I didn't realize what it was until I bought it and was testing it out!

Wish I'd seen that when making my Now-Crowd Graduation Day figure Billboards (co-op with the great Riversoft Art) and Graduation Day set promos. As it was, I went with adapting the others you mentioned for the mortarboard and stole:

I too would love an updated set for G9 (or 8, but 9 is more likely now).
